To anyone with a non-bias, it was obvious that the referee's gave this game to Gonzaga. Their whistles were very active when Gonzaga had the ball but swallowed them when they were on defense! Pathetic, dishonest officiating!

Loved Coach Few's comments!

I saw the Stockton foul at the end of the game and was shocked he was not called.

"“It’s a setup for a 10 seed or an 8 to advance,” he said. “They get a day off to rest up, they’re used to the rims, they’re comfortable."

I didn't hear coach Rose complain.

Not a great Gonzaga team this year, they will go 1-1 in the NCAA tourney, best case. Stockton is a huge liability, his graduation will be a huge boost to the program.

It was quite obvious during the BYU game that the refs were trying their darndest to give the game to LMU also, the cougs would get called for little ticky tack fouls ,while they were getting their arms ripped off and thrown to the ground and no fouls were getting called, since when ids it a foul to tip a ball out to your teamate but Austin got called for a foul,but on the other end LMU did the same thing and sure enuf no foul

Seems to me he should have cost his team the game with that little hissy fit he threw at the end. Should have been a technical.

But seriously folks!

Gonzaga is clearly the better team but looked to be the lesser team last night. That is what you get in big games and tourney play. Sometimes the weaker team has nothing to lose and give it all they have while the better team lets down. This mentality happens often when BYU plays utah in football and this year in basketball.

I could not agree more about the officiating comments. WCC refs are just as bad as pac refs.

------------------

Actually, this mentality happens often when BYU plays any team with a pulse:

* 0-4 vs Utah
* 0-4 vs TCU
* 1-3 vs Boise State
* 2-5 vs PAC-12
* 15-17 vs Big 5 teams

Is that why BYU has come of with the "Will over Skill" slogan this year?

The officiating isn't near as bad as everyone is complaining about. I guess it gives you an out when your team loses or doesn't play good ball. I can hear it know when Gonzaga beat's BYU.

Spokane, "When Gonzaga beat's BYU" Seriously? You do realize "beat's" isn't even a word right?

And talk about looking for an out, you've been throwing out the "Gonzaga isn't very good this year" before every game they play, just to hide your disappointment when they lose.

The fact of the matter is, officiating is part of the game. It is part of strategy in every game. You have to determine in the first few minutes of the game how the officials are calling the game. Are they bias and against you? Are they swallowing their whistles? Even into more specifics, are they allowing players to hang in the key too long, etc. Because you cannot have perfect games called, you have to use the officiating as a strategy. So, when someone comes away with a W, they earned it. I too have seen my teams go down-and I felt that officiating had a large influence. The truth of the matter is, my teams either had to find other ways to win, or end up losing. Congrats on the Zags squeaking by, and to the Cougs. May the Utes, Wildcats and the Aggies be fortunate to make a little noise at least in their conference tourney. Crossing my fingers for the Wolverines to win theirs.

Trevvor

Thank you for correcting my spelling and grammar. You do realize that Trevvor is spelled Trevor don't you? Also, you started a sentance with "And". No excuses, just stating the fact that Gonzaga is no where near as good as they have been the past 4-5 years. Not in the top 25, not a single win over a top 25 team, and a NCAA seed of 8/9. The numbers speak for them self. It is a down year for Gonzaga, but they are still the favorite to win the WCC tourmament. Something that BYU hasn't done, nor have they won the regular season title. If BYU ever had a chance to knock off Gonzaga it's this year; and complaining about the officiating is weak sauce.

Trevvor
Sandy, UT

No, wrong again. Trevvor is spelled Trevvor. Also, how do you "hear it know?"

Did you mean hear it now? Know doesn't mean now. I'm just trying to understand your comments so I can reply. If Gonzaga is the best team in the WCC they should win the tournament. No need to make excuses before the game and then beat your chest if they win. Doing so is no better than a fan who cries about officiating. Just enjoy the game Spokane and stop getting so worked up over things.

Spokane Ute

Not worked up at all. Just stating that this year's Gonzaga team is not up to par with previous versions. Again, I base this on ranking, seeding, win-loss percentage, etc. That's not an excuse. It's a statistical fact, not just my opinion. Do I need to clarify any part of this angle or position? Attacking spelling and grammar is weak. IMO I highly doubt you are having trouble understanding the contect of my post; but one never knows. Logicalsportsanalyst is spot on with his take on officiating. Do I want Gonzaga to win and advance far into the NCAA tournament? Yes, of course. Do I think they will? Unfortunately, No. Either way I look forward to a BYU-Gonzaga match up. Here in Spokane the Zags are the only show in town.

Utelogy,
BYU over Utah 11 of the past 13!! Selective picking of the facts.

Spokane,
I believe that seriously was trying to say that Gonzaga was the better team but was struggling that night but you had to take the low road. Typical ute fan.

Think again; "I could not agree more about the officiating comments. WCC refs are just as bad as pac refs."

Nice job of trying to make something out of nothing and falsely accussing some one. Typical.

Sheeesh!

Spokane Ute,

Good luck with the game against St. Mary's today. I do agree that Gonzaga is down this year. I do think, however, that the WCC is also up more than usual. Even during Gonzaga's worst years, they usually could take care of business and only take 1 or two WCC loses a year. I hope Gonzaga finds their footing in the next few years, along with BYU. Would love to see a nice basketball rivalry develop between both of these teams.

That said, I have seen some pretty bad officiating in the WCC. I did see some in the Big 12 and PAC 12 this year too, but not nearly as much. Either way, a championship team knows how to get around the refs and still find a way to win, instead of complaining about it. Stockton did have an offensive foul on that last play that wasn't called, but hey, no calls are part of the game too. Some days your the statue, other days you're the pigeon.

@CougSunDevil

It's great to see a well thought out, spot on, and civil dialogue. After last year, it's difficult for me to get to high on Gonzaga. This year they are 1-4 vs. top 50 teams. I see the WCC as being a little down this year. No teams in the top 25; where as St. Marys, BYU and Gonzaga were there (at times) last year. Gonzaga has two starting guards under 6'; and that's huge liability on the defensive end. If Gonzaga is on from the 3 point line they are tough. If not, they are very vulnerable. I would not be the least bit suprised to see BYU knock them off this year. As long as the officiating is not bias; I'm generally OK with it. The game has become very physical, and difficult to officiate. IMO. Good luck to both your Sun Devils and Cougs. I hope to see a BYU-Gonzaga match up tomorrow night. Thanks for the response; nicely done Guy. Have a good evening!

Sincere congrats to the Stockton family. Winning a state title and taking down the Cougs to win the WCC. What a week!
