To be fair, this pope's predecessor was head of the modern-day inquisition office who aided in covering up the abuse of thousands of children. The bar for "Superpope" is thus not tremendously high.

I believe the hype for the Pope is contingent upon opening up certain "rights" anticipated by certain "groups" within the Catholic Church. It is what the press is hoping for.

I am not a catholic, but I would say that he is a good man. I don't think he does it to look good. of course, being such a famous position, there will always be public relations. Like he said, he is just a man and we shouldn't expect him to be perfect. I think many people in the world want something hopeful and good. The Pope has tried to help people see what is important in life! We are happier when we care about each other. When he gives hope to even those who are not Catholic, you must admit that he is doing something right. I pray that God does direct him and that all goes well for him.
