Interesting article which begs for a comparison with Mormon teachings on sexual and ethical issues. There was a recent free article in Dialogue about this very topic. DN doesn't allow to give the link, but it's easy to google with decoo + mormonism + catholicism + dialogue. It shows how Mormonism is more flexible and understanding of people's needs, compared to Catholicism, but without compromising core standards.

It's going to be a huge hurdle for the catholics but I think they're going to have to get past the idea of contraception, and indeed the regulation of sex in any sense. The moral imperative against their current stance is becoming too great, and too obvious. I like that the pope is trying to look beyond this, but they're going to have to address it sometime because it won't just go away.

I have a hard time listening to advice on children and family from a guy who isn't allowed to be married or even in a relationship, and doesn't have kids.
