I suspect the story in the news this morning about 300 sick on a ship won't
help. I know the experience is positive for most people but there are more and
more problems cropping up on these things; I don't know if that's why
but I've never had an urge to cruise. I think it's because not only
your accommodation but safety, wellbeing and transportation are provided by a
self contained, complex group of mechanical systems and administrative policies
all deliberately regulated by nations with very lax legislation in these areas,
in order to maximize profit, and reduce or eliminate liability to operators.
You're almost a prisoner on a cruise ship, in a legal sense. But, a lot of
people like it and enjoy it, so if that's what floats your boat, enjoy.
