I've taken a number of trips on the ferry. It is always a treat. I was detailed to the DC area and visited my parents in South NJ on weekends, and driving I95 was like a scene out of Ben Herr and the races. Even driving along South NJ highways can be a challenge.

My only reservation about the drive from Annapolis to Lewis was the lack of adequate roads. I enjoy driving through the small towns and stopping along the way, but the route is at best a zig azg affair. Trying to make a schedule can be tricky.

If out for a nice ride, I would encourage you to give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

I have taken that ferry quite a few times going back and forth to see customers. It sure beat driving from the Jersey shore all the way to DC and then down through Fredericksburg and Richmond to get back home. Between that and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, the commute time is shortened greatly. And in that hour and half across the Delaware Bay, you can take a break from driving.
