A valid tea party cause if ever there was one.

Really???

Wait a minute--I thought the tea party supports employers' rights.

Quite the straw man argument happening here.

No one questions that Mr Robertson has the right to say what he wants or feels.
That is not the issue at all. THis has nothing to do with the first amendment.

And we have every right to boycott or protest A&E's suspension.

Does anyone think that A&E is not 100% within their rights to suspend him?

MSNBC suspended (Fired) Martin Bashir for his pathetic comments about Sarah Palin.
Was that OK because he was a liberal attacking a conservative? I certainly didn't hear an outcry for his reinstatement.

In the end, money will win, as it usually does. DD makes too much money for A&E.

They will find a way to kiss and make up.

Watching Fox news on the issue, I had to laugh.

They cherry picked Mr Robertson's comments, leaving out those comments that most likely brought on the suspension.

They basically report that Mr Roberson was just voicing his faith based objections to homosexuality. And then rail against his suspension based on that premise.

Their coverage would make anyone question A&E's treatment of Mr Robertson.

A lot of liberals making up claims of conservatives saying AE doesn't have the right to fire him.

I think the point being made is the double standard of what would the liberals be saying if the owners of a tv channel fired someone for making pro gay statements.

Liberals just don't get it. The Tea party is all for employer rights. If A&E want to kill Duck Dynasty, that is their choice. However, the conservativs are not saying that contracts should be broken or anything like that. They are simply stating that they like the Robertsons just the way they are. Think of it like the fans that have kept some shows on the air, eventhough the networks wanted to cancel the show.

As for Martin Bashir resigned. The right did not force the company to do anything. MSNBC dumped him because he was not helping make money. According to various sources, he wasn't disciplined for his opinions, but for the crude and violent way that he expressed them.

Whatever else you think about any of this, you gotta admit there is a double standard.... its true Miley Cirus got a pass, but this guy doesn't.

@windsor --

"Whatever else you think about any of this, you gotta admit there is a double standard.... its true Miley Cirus got a pass, but this guy doesn't."

Miley Cyrus didn't attack anybody. She didn't call people sinners or lump them together with terrorism or bestiality. All she did was act like an idiot -- and that's her job.

@Red --

MSNBC recently fired/dumped/encouraged to resign both Martin Bashir AND Alec Baldwin for making political/derogatory statements on-air.

"but for the crude and violent way that he expressed them."

Yup. And Robertson was pretty darned crude himself.

@Chris --

"what would the liberals be saying if the owners of a tv channel fired someone for making pro gay statements."

We would be saying that pro-gay statements aren't hate speech, don't lump anyone in together with terrorists or bestiality, and don't tell people that they're going to Hell.

Speech has consequences. Negative speech has negative consequences.

"They are simply stating that they like the Robertsons just the way they are."

The majority of people who are up in arms about this issue had never watched the show prior to this controversy.

This article is both inprecise and misleading. I have read at least some of the direct comments of Robertson, and I would say that the "disparaging gay people" claim is unfounded. He stated his view that homosexual behavior is sinful. Maybe not in the most sophisticated and nuanced way, but to say he "disparaged gay people" because he holds to the Biblical view that sex between two men or two women is sinful is not what the article is implying he said.
