Twins are tough to raise! I have a twin brother who was born at normal weight.
However, I was severely underweight at birth (even though we went full term),
and have suffered a variety of ailments that might be birth-weight related. I've always appreciated having a twin, but it was definitely a
challenge for my parents and siblings. At 4 years olds, we worked as a team and
stacked chairs to climb up to the upper shelves of closets. Our messes were
double-sized, and so were demands for attention. Being a twin is
great, but raising twins is a huge commitment. I'm glad that fertility
treatments are beginning to allow single births.
I think twins are wonderful! I had twins when my first baby was 16 months old.
The hardest part with my twins was the pregnancy and the first year or two.
After they are potty trained, I am convinced that twins are easier than single
births. They always have someone to play with. You can teach them everything
at the same time. This was a great blessing for my children. If I could choose,
I would have had more twins.
