Even though it took a while, longer than it should have, this feels like news we've moved past. There's going to be a gay mayor, and a muslim one, like mayor Nenshi up in Calgary.

I think the media and many people on the left see far more racism than there really is. I have been in an interracial marriage for more than 20 years. It rarely even gets a second look (Yes an occasional look 20 years ago in Utah, but now hardly even a glance). Unfortunately there are some that get power from pushing racism. Anytime anyone criticizes the president Bill Maher and Chris Matthews are convinced that it is because of racism. Oprah asserted that Pres. Obama does not get respect because of racism (never mind he started with 70 approval ratings.)

While real racism does exist, it is much more commonly used as a political tool.
