expressed in Santorum's theory of a two-front civil war. The emergence of a
voice that can transcend the bickering with galvanizing pragmatism is a tall
order. Rand Paul and Chris Christie are polarizing figures who underscore the
divide that at present leaves the uninspiring but more stable Democratic Party
as the country's default party.
