Brighton vs Jordan is the best match up this week. Brighton has home field and
should win this game. Brighton by 10 at Home.
Pig skin fan. You have to remember this is high school football. There are no
80,000 seat stadiums that make it too loud to hear the signal. Both sides have
about the same about of students and parents show up. They are more familiar
with the field but home there is not really "home field advantage" in
high school. I maybe give Brighton 2 point advantage for being more familiar
with the field. Jordan by 7.
@Parrys Power Guide - I like that you have Herriman favored over Lehi and see
that Edwards has Lehi with the upset...but it is what it is. I can wait to
visit Lehi tonight because its going to be an awesome game. Herriman has sole
possession of first place in Region 4 and a win over Lehi will only strengthen
that lead.My concern comes from how DesNews comes up with these
power rankings and the weekly state rankings. The latest state rankings and
latest power rankings have me confused. The state rankings have Riverton #8,
Lone Peak #11, Pleasant Grove #13, Lehi #14, American Fork #16 and Herriman #17.
This basically means that Herriman is the 6th ranked team in Region 4...even
though we have beaten Riverton and Lone Peak and have yet to play Pleasant Grove
or Lehi. I recognize that we lost to American Fork, be we are currently 1st in
the Region...so how are 5 regional teams ranked ahead of us???To
make things more confusing...your power rankings have Herriman as one of the top
teams in Utah, in 5A and in Region 4...so what gives???
@whoisjohngaltUnless you're playing at Fremont with the
crabgrass and mosquitoes. Then there's a little bit of home field
If Jordan manages to show even a scrap of run defense we'll win, problem is
they haven't really done that all year. Hopefully Austin can keep the
turnovers in check and our killer offense will roll over the Brighton defense.
Brighton's running game scares me. Jordan has made just about every running
back we've faced look amazing. Hopefully Austin and the prolific Beetdigger
offense can put up big enough numbers to win it anyways. I believe this game may
boil down to the turnovers. Would be really nice to have that #2 seed!
@JDigger24 - I think you are right. Jordan has the ability to score very
easily, but the defense is not the best. When Herriman played Jordan, we lost
because we simply could not keep up with their scoring for all 4 quarters and I
think that will be the key for Jordan.Jordan's ability to score
quickly helps overcome their defensive problems. If Jordan takes the #2 seed in
Region 3...that would have to be considered the comeback of the year.
Brighton Jordan game should be one heck of a game. I think the key will be
turnovers! The team with the least amount will Win. Brighton has allowed the 2nd
least amount of points in 5A! If the defense shows up like it has all season
minus the Bingham Game, they should win! Would love to see the Bengals take the
Big Benzo...I'm pretty sure the power guide rankings have
little to do with wins and losses, except possibly as a part of the formula. I
suspect the biggest factor in that formula is the stats, meaning the higher you
rack the score up, the more yards you get, and the less yards you allow, the
better you are ranked, no matter who you put those stats on.
@utahfan1"Brighton has allowed the 2nd least amount of points in
5A! If the defense shows up like it has all season minus the Bingham Game, they
should win!" Not sure where you pull your stats from. Prior to
tonight's games, 5A points allowed stats from this site:1 - 48
Davis2 - 86 Syracuse3 - 111 Taylorsville 4 - 121 Bingham5 - 127 BrightonBrighton was number 5 in points allowed in 5A. As
for not showing up at the Bingham game, I would say they did show up but the
Bingham offense was way too much for them.
To answer the question of @BigBenzo88; the rankings you see in the paper are not
the rankings of the power guide. The paper chooses not to show the power guides
rankings. I hope this clears up your confusion.
