Please, the man couldn't even accurately research and interpret "Green Eggs and Ham." How much credibility could he possibly have with data that is actually nuanced?

"Citizens knowledgeable about history would not only find such comments distasteful; they would be able to marginalize people who utter them, instead of lionizing them for their courage to speak "until (they) can't stand anymore."

Senator Mike Lee quoted earlier this week in the Deseret News:

“After the Federalist Society meeting, Lee and Cruz took a long walk around the Capitol. ‘We talked about every conceivable political and constitutional issue,’ Lee recalls. ‘I concluded we were kindred spirits.’ ”

I now know everything I need to know about Senator Lee.

Re: "What these comments demonstrate is that our society needs more exposure to history."

No, what they demonstrate is historic principles that liberals hate, so they disingenuously re-write history, attempting to spin it in their favor.

There's no doubt Chamberlain, Britain, and the world appeased Nazi aggression prior to WWII, seeking "peace in our time." That Hitler's naked aggression ultimately rose to the level that even career appeasers had to respond only illustrates Sen. Cruz' point -- Republican Senators will eventually be required to stop appeasing the President and stand up for the principles their constituents believe in.

It's a perfectly valid point, made with perfectly valid history. Whether liberals like it or not.

I would suggest the "inaccuracies" are minor, but the real problem in this country is that we are spending like a drunken sailor and need to get our fiscal house in order. That is the crux of it and the why of the Tea Party.

Cruz totally wasted twenty three hours of Americas time with nothing more than pure nonsense. If Cruz had any sense or good intentions for doing his job and working for Americas good he would have used the time to present a better national health care program. But the truth is that he and his cohorts do not have a better idea. The truth is Cruz and his cohorts hate President Obama more than they love America, and that is sad, wrong and un American..

I am tired of this liberal versus conservative garbage. The hard truth is there are times we need to be conservative in our approach to solve problems, but there are other times that require us to be liberal. Compromise is not a dirty word, but it requires listening to each other to come to reasonable solutions.

Let's stop this culture war.

Texas writes there own school books what do expect?

Most conservatives I talk with have a very distorted recollection of even more recent history.
This is what I would expect from those who read "historical" books by beck or rush.

"Arthur Neville Chamberlain FRS[1] (18 March 1869 – 9 November 1940) was a British Conservative politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from May 1937 to May 1940. Chamberlain is best known for his appeasement foreign policy, and in particular for his signing of the Munich Agreement in 1938, conceding the German-populated Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia to Germany. However when Adolf Hitler continued his aggression by invading Poland, Britain declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939, and Chamberlain led Britain through the first eight months of the Second World War." Cruz was not historically ignorant. Chamberlain did offer appeasement first to Hitler. To say otherwise does not recognize historical record. No matter if his views changed, at first he offered appeasement and that, just for the record, was a mistake.

Oh the irony of Ted Cruz.

Let's look at Historical facts --

The Founding Fathers were the progressive Liberals in 1776, and the conservatives Tory's wanted to stay English subjects.

The Nazis also re-wrote history and gassed "Liberals" along with academia, Communists, illegal immigrants, abortionists, non-Christians, etc.

BTW --
Who's the ones that don't have the votes,
are the minority,
are threatening extortion and Government shut-down,
over a law --
passed by the House
and the Senate
and signed by the President,
AND
up-held by the Supreme Court?

The appeasers of our day are those who say the conservative don't know how to compromise. The conservatives, unfortunately, have been compromising to the liberal socialist dream for a half century or longer and it is an insult to say that they don't know how to compromise. It is the liberals who don't know how to compromise and the reason they are so confused is that to them they haven't ever had to compromise. They have been getting exactly what they wanted for far too many years and now they don't know what to do when those who have been the guardians of liberty and freedom have finally said, 'enough is enough. It has to stop here and now before the whole house goes down!'

What's really funny is the fact that Green Eggs and Ham is all about trying something and discovering you really do like it.

That's exactly what terrifies Cruz and Lee. If people are allowed to try ACA, they will discover they like it. And if that happens, all the political fooferaw these guys and their Tea Party buddies have produced will be proven to be wrong, wrong, wrong.

Boy, wouldn't that be downright embarrassing?

He did this purely for publicity, and therefore he will get publicity back. Watch what you say just to get on Fox news.

As usual, the liberals change the facts and then tell us that only they "know" history.

Cruz was right. The opinion piece was wrong. Only the uneducated would tell us that Chamberlain was not a pacifist and that because of him and others like him, Hitler had started his attacks.

Now, liberals try to tell us that they have the right to change the duties of Congress to include wiping our noses - and to levy the largest tax increase in American history to do that. They, just like Hitler, will continue with their rejection of the Constitution until they are stopped - no matter how many times they rewrite and misrepresent history.

He certainly enjoys listening to the sound of his own voice. Whether or not what he is saying is the truth or is anywhere near accurate, does not seem to matter to this individual.

Just to recap the Conservative point of view - Chamberlain was wrong for not wanting to get involved in Germany's affairs and stop Hilter, and Obama is wrong for wanting to get involved with Syria's affairs and stop Assad.

Does anybody else find this highly convoluted?

So anyone who disagrees with an ultra conservative interpretation of the Constitution wishes to "reject" it and are like Hitler?

Wow!

This article is a cheap, false attack on Ted Cruz, by an individual who doesn't like his politics.

What Cruz said about Neville Chamberlain is true; that WAS the essence of his attitude and actions at the time, which led Great Britain, unprepared, into war. I've studied a lot of that history, some from original sources, and the author of the editorial is dead wrong.

But the real target is Senator Cruz, one of the most courageous conservative leaders we've seen in politics in a long time.

Look at his biography. His resume and credentials are impeccable. He's articulate, and cows to no one.

The liberals and moderate republicans dislike him because for the same reason they disliked Ronald Reagan - he's effective.

I read the comments her from the extreme left.

It is shocking how hateful and uninformed their comments are.

Their personal and hateful attacks on good principled men.

They twist history, and even tell lies about the founding fathers to appease their hateful ideology.

Cruz has everything reversed, from the children's novel to the real lesson which is that we should not appease radical tea party extremists.
