Thank you for sharing this hair-raising experience with us. Kenya seemed so far
away when we heard this on the news, but not so when we realize that our Utah
neighbors were there and their own neighbors in Kenya were so sadly stricken.
Best wishes in the days of healing.
Followup question: If they were, how would we avoid killing innocent people?
It's just not that simple.
I don't care how wonderful an opportunity for employment would seem...if it
meant living outside of the United States of America I would never ever do that.
My peace and safety is within the boundaries of our Country and no where else.
We must use some common sense. Every citizen must be prepared to protect
himself. If the people in the mall were armed, many more could have been saved.
Spare me any rhetoric about the dangers of guns. A gun is a tool used to
equalize the playing field between terrorist and the innocent citizens.
Remember, folks, that murder is the killing of innocents, so we would be
justified hunting this group down and eradicating it from the Earth with a
Great EXCLUSIVE Article DNews!! So glad this family was kept safe during this
terrifying situation. It's a sad, scary, crazy world we live in these
I am glad that this family is safe. I wish we had a peaceful world.
Unfortunately leaders like President Obama have failed to grasp our current
world. Just this week Obama stated that we are now in the most peaceful time
covering the past 5 years. I just don't see it.
@Liberal TedMy feelings are in line with yours...@Confused in
AZI'm no politician(I'm kind of thinking gratefully so these
days..)and I'm not "up to snuff" and details on laws, nor am I
Liberal Ted, BUT I do feel as freedom loving societies it is PAST time for
"pussyfooting" around with terrorists and get deadly serious with zero
tolerance laws and attitudes and do away with keys and prison sentences. They
are an EXTREME THREAT to life, living, and ANY sort of happiness or even at ease
public life...(or at times EVEN private!).
Hey, Liberal Ted- I am a liberal, too , and LDS just as this family is. I would
like to know your thoughts on exactly HOW to put "an end to the intolerance
and hate" as you suggest. We cannot control the teachings of the islamic
faith that the terrorists profess to practice. Exactly how do we do what you
suggest? We need real solutions and not general tired and much used rhetoric. It
is a sad and pathetic world we live in and we must be close to end days as
described in Revelations. I fear for my grandchildren and their children in the
times to come. I'm very thankful that this family survived and lived to
tell about their ordeal. It is bone chilling at the very least.Make yours a
These aren't just terroists. They are going in and systematically
slaughtering people that are not of their faith. This is genocide and ethnic
cleansing. They are no better than hitler and the ss squads when they went
about their "cleansing" efforts.Every freedom loving country
needs to be involved in this and put an end to the intolerance and hate.
SanpacoExclusive means they are the sole source or only source for
the news.Breaking means it just happened
@ sanpaco---"...I'm failing to see how this qualifies as
Breaking News."While the actual attack is now over and the smoke
is now clearing, this report IS Breaking News... the first eyewitness, "live
report" transcribed back to the DesNews from a Utah native who was there to
witness the event!!! This first-person report is "hot off the press,
baby!"This is NOT the type of story you sit and cool your heels
over; and just wait for it to run in tomorrow's print edition. You
"break" this type of news --day or night-- the *instant* it is available
to send.Anyway... what a compelling story. So glad these folks are
safe and sound! Thanks, DNews, for getting this breaking story out on the web
at the earliest opportunity.
Great story and article and thanks for sharing... but I'm failing to see
how this qualifies as Breaking News.
Thankfully, this family was spared. There is much to be learned from
their experience, especially situational awareness, being alert to possible
escape routes, emergency communications, and the fact that terrorist attacks are
not only possible, but almost inevitable, even here in the U.S. The Trolley
Square killings by a single individual pale in comparison to what a team of
suicidal killers might do.Every mall in the U.S. should remove their
"defenseless victim zone" gun ban signs and allow customers who are
properly licensed to carry their self defense weapons. No, a single armed
individual will not stop a determined terrorist attack, but they may be able to
distract the bad guys, or maybe even take one out and thus enable their own
escape, or delay the bad guys momentarily, slowing the carnage while police
professionals are en route.People really need to think about if they
want to get a concealed weapon permit. And, having a tool alone is not enough,
they really should get some good training on how to use it in an emergency
Glad you are all safe. What an experience. I'm especially sad for those
who lost loved ones.Extremism comes in all shapes and
sizes--threatening the stability and safety of society. We must work
together to stop it.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this story. Nothing like bringing it home than to have
a fellow Utahn in the middle of things with a play by play account.I
am glad you are safe. The darkest clouds in the history of the world
are gathering on the horizon. It is for sure time for us all to stick
together and help each other every day. We need to love every single day that
