At that point and knowing the circumtances under which the FBI entered the area, it wouldn't take much of a wrong move by DiMaggio before the FBI took care of him.

Looks like we may have just saved us all a lot of tax dollars putting him on trial.

Girls and women aren't safe anywhere. Why? What can be done about it? The only thing I can think of is concealed carry for women and teenage girls. Far from ideal. But what else? This should be a major issue in our culture, but for some reason we just let it slide.

Another news source reported that abductor Dad had died in a stand-off after kidnaping a 16 year old girl. Like Father like Son

Concealed carry for teenage girls? Why not teenage boys? Oh they already "carry". But they are teenage "latino" boys. Ok then concealed carry for teenagers with blond hair and white skin. Will that do? Is that the best we can do here in Zion?

Our family has(and grown children still call him "uncle") a close family friend. Regardless of how much I care about, and even may trust a family friend, I would NEVER allow them to take one of my children away for a supposed week long trip for a "sweet sixteen" birthday celebration. Perhaps I'm a bit paranoid, but that in itself seems like "warning sign of obsession"......

Me thinks Hannah may not have been taken against her will; and is more involved then we might immediately know.

Just wondering if some ambitious prosecutor in San Diego will charge the man (FBI agent) who fired the shot that killed that kidnapper with Murder One. Do they have "stand your ground" laws in Idaho? Crazy society we live in now!

My next question: Why wouldn't Hannah give some kind of hand signal, anything, in two different encounters with these four people on horseback? She couldn't have been that brainwashed. Maybe she had been threatened and was just afraid. Just wondering.

To "kolob1" it doesn't have to be just for blonde hair, blue eyed white girls. Many women, regardless of race, could be better protected if they had conceal carry permits and were armed when traveling alone or else had weapons handy when at home alone.

I am just trying ot figure out why you want to make this about race, when this would be a benefit for all women, and the original comment had nothing to do with race?

One word......TIGERLIGHT. This non-lethal defense system has been proven to be the #1 non-lethal defense system in existence! I would NEVER feel safe if I didn't have my hand held TigerLight T100 either in my hand or in my purse constantly, and my Series II TigerLights all over my house and car. ESPECIALLY, being a 25 year old woman with a 1 year old child, I am not going to put a gun in my purse to protect myself. The T100 is perfect for me, and EVERY girl out of high school should have one. My husband and all the brothers in my family were given the Series II and they even feel MUCH safer with it on hand. Now we ALL feel like if we were to be attacked, by one attacker or many, we would be able to protect not only ourselves but the ones we love around us.

Glad they got the guy. What a sad, strange and twisted tale. Hope the young woman can take some comfort in the strength, poise and graceful example of Elizabeth Smart.

That Tigerlight (mentioned in another comment) looks like a worthwhile non-lethal defense. I'm going to check into that.

No investigation needed, in my opinion. An abductor who is taken down while distanced from the minor is cause and reason alone to end the conflict. Mad props to FBI and law officials. I'd like to see more of these standoffs end the same way.
