Liberals won't leave until they run out of other peoples money.

When they have taxed and spent us all into abject poverty, and their political leaders have forced moral decay upon us.
They will take the wealth they sucked from this nation and leave(like George Soros).

The entire time they will blame George Bush and conservatives for the mess they have created!

It would be great if all of the people in this country that feel like these folks do left the USA to live in the least developed parts of the planet.

Liberals have never said we want to be left alone. That's all t-party nonsense.

And if liberals would make a trip we would do so with science, weather scientists and planning. Not things conservatives enjoy are they? Unless they need a ride home.

    redshirt007 -

Any chance all the liberals in this country can make that same boat trip?

You guys want to be left alone, you say. I promise, we won't come looking for you after you've left America. Although, the trail of destruction you leave won't make it difficult to find you....

If it weren't for the children I would encourage more preppers and t-party crazies to leave. But try not to use the government "handout" for a ride home if you're trying to be independent.

This just seems like a story of teenager that want's to run away and finds out the world is much harder than home was so he calls sobbing for a ride home. Arrested development indeed.

Funny how all the tolerant, caring and open minded people posting on this story are the most critical. Just another proof of the left wing adage "I support your freedom of choice as long as you chose what I want"

    @Hutterite

Faith in secular things can motivate both ordinary people and elite to do extraordinarily stupid, mean and evil things.

People do not behave better without religion and morals.

It was a stupid idea. Take a young baby on a tiny boat into the open ocean?? Those folks needed some more brain cells.

If they were really looking for "religious freedom", they should have just purchased plane tickets to the country of their choice.

As for their choice of countries -- again, more brain cells were needed.

"Kiribati is expected to be the first country to lose all its land territory to global climate change. In June 2008, the Kiribati president Anote Tong said that the country has reached "...the point of no return." He added, "To plan for the day when you no longer have a country is indeed painful but I think we have to do that.....in April 2013, President Tong began urging citizens to evacuate the islands and migrate elsewhere."

They were "escaping" to country that won't even exist for very much longer.

Once again a taxpayer funded interference in the Darwinian process. These people are delusional, and essentially renounced their claim to any benefits of citizenship when they fled the country because it's too free to suit their needs. Faith can motivate ordinary people to do extraordinarily stupid, mean and evil things. They are a prime example of why religion needs to be a personal experience, not a mandated societal one.

These people are crazy and irrational. Someone should call Child Protective Services.

The religious zealots lose complete touch with reality... and land!

Good thing the Government they hate was there to answer their "prayers" and save their bacon.

Some demand that all religious values be kept out of their government but demand the government must dictate and enforce control of some deeply held religious values such as the sanctity of marriage and taxpayer funded abortions and forced taxpayer funded birth control. Anyone who can't or won't see the irony of that is blinded by their own ideology!

Delusional and misguided, to say the least. There is nothing laudable about ignorance and living a fantasy in the head. Good grief.

The U.S. Government shouldn't have done anything to help. Why are they coming back to the US and why are my tax dollars paying for their trip. This isn't their home any longer!!!!

This is a fascinating story, and explained well. I think the family was creative and courageous in their attempt to have religious freedom. I am concerned that they didn't consider they would be rejected in Micronesia. Still it is a good story.
