How can that be?

I mean, after all, Obama said we've been in an economic growth stage since the summer of 2009.

Business should be booming everywhere, right?

Maybe part of the reason is the fact that, like every other major holiday, sales for the back-to-school season started way too early. The second week of July I went to Walmart and a couple other stores, trying to find a kiddie pool for my kids, only to find they were no longer being sold, as back-to-school items had taken up all the shelf space.


I think back to school shopping is overrated. If times are tough, then let your kids continue to wear their summer clothes back to school since summer and the start of school overlap. I know kids want to keep up with the Jones's but putting food on the table and paying the rent are far more important than going to Aeropostale to shop for overpriced clothes.
