Detroit is an example of just plain bad management and cronyism. Even myself, as
a member of a union, can see how in this case, and potentially other cities as
well (Chicago, New York and San Francisco) that common sense has to prevail when
it comes to bargaining in good faith between city leaders and union officials.
We can all find common ground, long term common ground, that benefits those who
provide valuable public services and those who are entrusted with being fiscally
responsible city leaders.
