Castro should have been put to death. No mercy shown to these 3 women for 10 years. No mercy for this man. He lied about everything denying his culpability until he was caught. Justice was NOT served.

Respectfully, I'd say your comment actually shows that you have less regard for life than Castro has.

If Castro didn't kill anyone, and that's premeditated murder sense killing, then there is no justification for a death penalty. Even the sentence is way overboard. Life without parole, then what? he dies and then his corpse will serve another 1000 years in an Ohio prison? Bizarre, and just another example of how crazy the US justice system has become.

If the three girls where kept that way for 10 years then it should be a max 30 years odd sentence, as it would be in most other nations, including places like Canada and GB which have lower violent crime rates and lower recidivism rates than the US.

In what delusional world does this man consider what he did for 10 years to be consensual? This man is sick. Luckily for us and unluckily for him, his type isn't taken kindly to in prison with other inmates. He won't last a year.

Castro did terrible things and should be imprisoned for life to keep others safe from him.

But I do have a lingering question. How can our society rule he is guilty of murder on one hand (the murder of unborn infants), but legally protect the abortion industry and claim that what is going on in abortion clinics is not murder?

I guess I understand that abortion proponents will claim "choice". In the case of Castro, the women were imprisoned and forced to miscarry. In the case of elective abortion, women choose to proceed.

However, what about the perspective of the unborn infant? It has no choice in the matter.

Abortion proponents argue that the infant in the womb is not really a person, and is not alive, or capable of life outside the womb. But then we have the ruling here (against Castro) that he murdered these unborn infants...who abortion proponents would claim could survive outside the womb.

Personally, I believe abortion is ending life in every case. I just wish we could have an honest discourse with laws that reflect this reality.
