If you get a degree in French Literature or Impressionist Art you just might
have trouble getting a job. Many young people confuse a hobby with a career.
Get a technical degree, even if it is in plumbing, work hard, you'll do
fine. Get the government out of the student loan business...that would help.
Hold the schools accountable for how they waste tax money. Until these things
happen professional students may find that no one needs them no matter how many
degrees they have. School is not for fun, it is for learning.
@ Wayne RoutI don't know of anyone who has a degree in French
Literature or Impressionist Art. Please stop acting like only those with weird
and useless degrees cannot find employment. The truth is, most
degrees in nearly every subject have very few open spots. The results of decades
of failed Reaganomics. We need to turn this around, and fast! The trickle-down
nonsense isn't working. It's pretty obvious that Reaganomics is a
failed experiment that needs to be aborted ASAP!
I love the picture, dude complaining of being saddled by debt as a result of his
degrees. You should have seen it coming, my friend. Why aren't you in the
trades? Good pay, lots of work, no huge education expense.
It is generally much less expensive to attend community or in-state schools than
the private schools with more status. It is similar to going into debt for a BMW
when a Honda Civic would do. Both will get you where you want to go, but there
is more status in owning a BMW. If you can afford the BMW, that is fine, but if
not other alternatives need to be looked at. It doesn't make
sense to go into $50,000 student debt for a job that only pays $40,000 per year
or a degree in a field that has very little demand, with few jobs available.
Following your dreams can sometimes turn into a nightmare, and so beware.
Isn't it amazing that a illegal immigrant can cross the border and make
more money than one of these highly skilled unemployed student debt saddled
Americans with a masters? Thanks Obama.......we need a Ronald
Reagan! This trickle up, share the wealth, 40% on welfare and disability,
borrow borrow borrow....isn't working!
