The was a good gesture and brought a lot of attention.
In classes on economic development we were taught that we could change the
future of Africa and other third world areas through aid and education. Being
generous we have sent over our used clothes to clothe the naked. Doing so we
have put the African tailors and textile manufactures and cotton growers out of
work. We think we are helping through our gifts, but are we making idle, corrupt
dependents, domestically as well as internationally? Governments should follow
their own advice: "Be careful when you send money overseas."
