In classes on economic development we were taught that we could change the future of Africa and other third world areas through aid and education. Being generous we have sent over our used clothes to clothe the naked. Doing so we have put the African tailors and textile manufactures and cotton growers out of work. We think we are helping through our gifts, but are we making idle, corrupt dependents, domestically as well as internationally? Governments should follow their own advice: "Be careful when you send money overseas."
