We are most fortunate that things worked out as they did.

Washington, DC

Mitt Romney has obviously lived a life of exemplary service. The saying "you can pretend to care, but you can't pretend to show up" shows the huge contrast between Romney and Biden who never gives anything.

However, Romney doesn't really have a signature charity that people could point to, often giving in secret. Certainly good from the perspective of personal enlightenment. However, if he had taken a few million from his advertising budget and built schools in Africa and Mexico it would have done more for him than more TV commercials. It would have blunted the racial divide, and been a huge contrast point to Biden and Obama.

Star Bright, I can't let your channeling of Michelle Bachmann go unchallenged.

"People's lives are being ruined by this administration" No, people's lives are being ruined by GOP hostility to the middle class. Healthcare financing is a joke - the #1 cause of personal bankruptcies.

"This administration will be proved by time to be the most criminal that has ever held the office." Only in your FOX-fueled imagination.

"IRS" - trying to cope with the toxic political landscape created by Citizens United and Tea Party political groups seeking tax-free status.

"Fast & Furious" - the focus should be on American gun manufacturers' total disregard for where their guns are going.

"Benghazi" - Good luck with that. Maybe talk to your GOP reps about why they repeatedly voted to cut State Dept security funding.

"AP" - Not happy about this, either. But when you dig deeper into the why and who, it's not as simple as you'd think. And OBTW - Republicans were clamoring for the source of the intelligence leaks exactly as much as the Obama Administration.

You want civility and honesty to return to politics? Me too! Why then did your post contain so little of either?

by not electing Mitt president the first time we shot ourselves in the foot
by not electing Mitt the second time we shot ourselves in the head

It appears the Romney transition team forgot a little thing called Congress. You know, those 535 people who can't agree it's Thursday. President Romney, like President Obama, would have accomplished very little in his first 200 days.

Thank goodness that ship did not sail! We would be in much worse shape with R-money at the helm!

"Knowing Romney's position and keen economic experience I would not have let those employees go if he had been elected."

So you fired employees from a small business not based on your sales figures or production needs or any other kind of actual financial numbers or planning for your business, but based on the outcome of a federal election?

Yep, that seems like sound business planning.

Mitt Romney has done something with his life in his businesses, government, volunteerism with the Olympics and many other events and activities such as his family and Church. He has not torn down moral values but lifted them by living those principles. Is he perfect? No, but he appears to have and has had plans for living within the government's abilities.

President Obama hasn't had a 100 nor 200 nor a 4 or an 8 year plan. He knows how to tear down principles that our country has lived with, for and in for over 200 years. He has brought in more racial and ethnic discontent than any administration for 40 years with his give to anyone that will vote for him policies. He has brought down our military morals with Generals he has appointed, CIA-director, Attorney General that deceives, a Secretary of State that says, "What difference does it make" if 4 of her diplomats and corps die while we don't give support. Now, with Obamacare looming in the distance, we find out the IRS, the lurker of our lives is deeply into partisan politics and covert procedures similar to Germany in the 1930s.

Star Bright is forgetting about the Bush administration.

We have a Vice-President that was very open about the $300.00 total donation he made in 2011. He is so benevolent to our citizens. The President isn't much different about his open donations to Acorn and SIEU or other entities such as those with goods in kind. He has made a difference from Chicago to Washington, D.C. President Lincoln went from the Chicago convention to Washington, D.C. but ended up a different kind of President that tried to unify our divided country. It wasn't easy but he did it with rebellious people and states.

He paid the ultimate price as he did his work, day and night, sitting at the telegraph because he cared about his citizens. He supported the nation's Constitution and had to spend hours, days and years to do it. He had a plan and his advisors didn't necessarily like his plans.

The main thing, he didn't run off to a campaign event or prepare for his nightly Jay and David shows at the sacrifice of even 4 dedicated servants of our country, such as in Benghazi. Lincoln's family suffered but this President's family takes millions of dollars in vacations.

Gosh JWB I'm surprised you could stop watching Fox News long enough to write this post. The facts are that unemployment percentages are down, home values are rebounding nicely and the stock market is at an all time high. To be fair, I think the same things would have occurred if Romney would have been elected. Presidents don't really have much influence on how our economy reacts and works.

" a Secretary of State that says, "What difference does it make" if 4 of her diplomats and corps die while we don't give support."

I don't really feel like taking the time to address the total amount of absolute nonsense in your post, so lets just look at this fabrication.

Can you provide the actual quote where Hillary Clinton asked what difference it makes if four people died in Benghazi?

And if you can't will you try to show a shread of integrity and admit that you just make stuff up to try to make people you don't like politically look bad?

Kaysville, UT

Presidents have an impact on their employees and the people by the integrity and honor they have and live in their personal lives. You have to have a President that is real and down to earth and can govern. This President has yet to learn how to govern. He is on the campaign road all the time and needs to do governing by interacting with his cabinet members. Cabinet members appear to be rogue members of society and can do anything. That way there is no direct involvement with the President and he can't be blamed.

He has not been a governing person of a company, state, county or city. His family can take expensive vacations on their own with 100s of people in the entourage at government expense. He doesn't set an example of one that can govern or even know how to budget. He gets his way when he forces the Congress to do his bidding and they pay the price of what they did, not him. Congress passed Obamacare, he only signed it into law.

It is like watching TV news in the 1960s at supper with all the events of Vietnam and biased news.

Obama won. The United States of America and its citizens lost.

Most of the comments above show that our country deserves the disaster that is taking place. If these represent the majority view, then the "low information voters" truly did win, and will be paying the price in increased taxes (if they pay taxes) and a drastically lower standard of living, worse healthcare, and increased threats from foreign enemies, and a spiraling loss of freedom. Any one of which could end our existence as a free nation.

Unfortunately, the hard working, tax paying, productive people in this country are doomed as well. Leavitt's book is a good explanation of the thoughtful preparation that the Romney team put into preparing to save our country. It probably would have worked, especially with a strong leader who loves this country.

By contrast, we are stuck with Obama's ceaseless campaigning, never taking time to govern or solve problems, all the while surrounded by his gang of Chicago grifters, and more scandals coming to light every week.

Obama won. Our nation and way of life lost.

Sanpete, UT

I voted for Mitt Romney. I wish he had won the election. It would have been nice to see what could have happened.

That being said, I have to agree with some other commentators. He did not win the election. There's no saying where we "would" be if he "had" won. I was willing to risk it and vote for him since I don't agree what has happened for the last 4+ years. However, we cannot prove where we would be had Mitt won this last election.

Star Bright is right.

It seems that a lot of the comments here today are from people who did not do their homework on Mitt Romney or Barack Obama. They just accepted the false and vile information about Romney that the MSM fed them. So sad that we have such an incurious and gullible electorate.

Mitt Romney would have been a fantastic president. I can guarantee that he would not have,
1. Refused to provide proper security for personnel in dangerous places,
2. Refused to send help in attacks like Benghazi
3. Would not have lied about a silly video for weeks on end
4. Would not use fear and intimidation via federal gov. agencies to suppress political speech in opposition to his agenda.

People, please wake up before your country is completely gone.

"All these years now and I have yet to see a comprehensive proposal from the right wing that addresses the issues."

Not quite true Esquire.

The "comprehensive proposal from the right wing " WAS the ACA. I am sure that you remember the Heritage Foundation and Orrin Hatch proposing the insurance mandate in an effort to counter Hillary Care.

The easiest way to get the GOP to change their mind is to adopt their plan.

How sad for our country! We could have one the best prepared men ever to run for the presidency serving the USA with a strong and talented team right now. And we could have been on track for a giant recovery. Instead we are watching the destruction of our republic from within as our derelict Usurper-in-Chief takes us down a totally losing path. We blew it big-time and we may never recover from it! The reasons Obama won are because he's Black and because half the nation are on some kind of government dole. It appears that now we will never be able to elect a decent person like Romney ever again. And that spells the end of America! Hope those who stayed home and didn't vote plus the Progressive, Liberal, Marxist, Democrats are proud of themselves! They did this to us!

Your probably right Jane, nobody would be talking about benghazi after Mitt started a pre-emtive war (war of aggression) against Iran or maybe North Korea because that's what he was told to do.

Aren't the same prophets who were predicting the end of the world in his first term, getting tired of being tools for less than entertaining news groups?

Sugar City, ID

I'm so thankful that I don't have it on my conscience that I supported Obama. Never in my life have we had a more divisive man as president. The trouble is that there are more people on the wagon than pulling the wagon. Romney's problem is that he overestimated the intelligence of the average American voter.
