Not sure how BYU is gonna do this year. Utah will be middle of the pack as
always in the Pac12. And finally poor poor USU. In the WAC2.0 against BSU who
they've never beaten in recent memory. Let's put it this way,
it's gonna be a long year for those fan's with a new coach.
Utah will be middle of the pack as always? Um … how does finishing 9th
count as middle of the pack? BYU will probably win 7-8 games this year.
We'll win atleast 10 games and be ranked in the top 15 as per usual.
You think that schtick is still funny, Mildred?
It will be an exciting season for the Aggies. Can't wait to see Keeton
light it up!
I hate to say this but I think it is going to be a long year for all 3 teams.
Yes they will all win some but I think best case for any of them is a game over
500. USU may get 7 BYU 6 and Utah 5 wins. I hope I am wrong but I see too many
good teams they are playing. Love to see the great teams but you are not going
to have a 11-2 season with these schedules. Prove me wrong UofU,
USU and BYU
Each school will have its own share of challenges in 2013, schedule-wise, but
UTAH has by far-and-away the most difficult SOS, hands-down. Their mid-season
8-game stretch is absolutely relentless. Fortunately, we have a favorable
home-schedule, with all things considered. From ESPN--Utah "Like Colorado, the middle of Utah's schedule is just nasty.
From Sept. 14 to Nov. 16, it's going to be a weekly grind. Oregon State
figures to be a top-25 team (especially with a preseason ranking and an easier
schedule out of the gate). Then the Utes are at BYU -- possibly another top-25
team -- for the always emotionally draining Holy War. Then UCLA, Stanford, at
Arizona, at USC, home to ASU and at Oregon. That's potentially seven of
eight straight opponents ranked in the top 25 -- including the potential top-5
teams in Stanford and Oregon. And if Arizona bounces back, it could be eight
straight games against ranked opponents. We're all expecting bigger things
from Utah after last year's disappointing 5-7 season. But this schedule is
going to make it awfully tough."NOTE--To say byu might be ranked
assumes beating UT. Not happening.
byU will finally have to play a semi-decent schedule. With that, .500 is the
very best they can hope for. And that is only because of Mid Timbuctoo St and
Potato St gimmees. Good luck winning anything with a running QB with knee
problems (sprained MCL playing softball?).Good luck to USU - hope
you go 11-1 (with the one Ute loss).Go Utes!! The DE era has
@AZUTEFunny, I didn't see the "note" in the ESPN text.
Was that something you added? ESPN simply stated that BYU was "possibly
another top-25 team", without any caveats. Is it really that hard just to
accept the statement as printed? Losing to Utah will not determine whether or
not BYU is ranked. If that ends up being BYU's only loss on the season, I
guarantee you that BYU will be ranked. The world sure is a different
place without the crimson colored glasses on.
AZUTE comes in with his disclaimer and excuses...again, for why Utah will have a
poor season and watch everyone else including their hated rival play in post
season while he "sits in (his) recliner eating popcorn". "Whaaaaaa,
this 8 game stretch is nasty, whaaaaa being in the PAC 12 is so hard, whaaaa why
are we losing to Colorado again, whaaaaaa...." Deal with it AZute, you love
your conference affiliation so stop the excuses and take your beatings like a
man. It's worth it, remember...the big dogs need snacks and they love U so
much they're willing to pay U 20 million in charitable donations for
helping them pad their record.
I find most of these comments what I would call "FAN CHARGED and full of
emotion" it should be a fun season for all and as an Aggie fan I want to see
my team win the MWC and beat the U and the Y. And as for the U And the Y I hope
they show well so the Aggie SOS looks better.
Good to see some write ups on football to get things rolling around here. Maybe
Weber State should be included next time so we can get a picture of all the
College Football teams in Utah? Should be an interesting year for sure.
We will be top dog in this state again as always. Probably have another top five

Las Vegas Aggie - we should get together somewhere here in Vegas and watch The

schedule sometimes and hand charity out to the little guys. So at least you
agree the utes are a charity case and biscuits for the big dogs, thanks for
being so agreeable. Utah and BYU have had the same schedule for years
before a couple years ago so what are U talking about? The fact that U
couldn't even build a legacy with the same weak schedule BYU did? San
Jose st finished in the top 25 and won their bowl game last year finishing 11-2
and barely losing to the PAC 12 champion by a FG to begin the season. Care to
retract that last statement? We'll let you...and the Spartans will need an
apology also. That should give them a good laugh...fan of team that went 5-7 and
stayed home for bowl season called you a charity. "LOL!"
Making Predictions at this point is pure speculation. This time last year,
nobody gave Notre Dame a chance to go undefeated and play in the NC game, or
thought a complete flop by Pre-Season #1 USC was possible. But it's just
so darn fun to make predictions isn't it? So I'm going to go ahead

Black&Blue"Beavs return 15 starters from a great 2012 team
that dominated U"______You obviously didn't watch the
game. The Utah games in which I'd at least slightly disagree
with you... I'd label the OSU game as 50-50 this season, same as the UCLA
game (both played at Utah). The USC game is probably a loss (they're still
USC even though not quite their old selves). However, I'm not overly
worried about Utah beating BYU to make it four in a row in what used to be the
rivalry game.Based on the above, I'll go with 6-6 for Utah
which will see them back in a bowl game, albeit a lower tier BYU-type of bowl
game. Nonetheless, a decent feat being that the PAC 12 looks extremely good this
year and Utah is still behind the conference in talent and depth.
Go Aggies!! USU will tear it up this year in their first year in the Mountain
West. The U and Y are going down this year against the Aggies, but (like Las
Vegas Aggie said) I hope BYU and Utah have good seasons so that USU looks that
much better for beating them. @ Las Vegas AggieHey!
It's nice to see Vegas Aggie fans represent!
Since Edward's first year at the helm at BYU, only four other schools have
more wins than the Cougars: Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Michigan. DEAL WITH IT UTES!
Utah by FAR has the hardest schedule. They have to play BYU after all. :)I hope each team wins all their games (except when they play BYU of
BYU football is the Mormon Golden Calf.
Re: LindonManYour statement is absolutely true. However could you
make the same statement if BYU had played the same schedule as Nebraska,
Oklahoma, Ohio State and Michigan? Hmm? Lavell had a great run and elevated
BYU football to some great moments, but please don't compare BYU's
results with the 4 teams you mention, its apples and oranges.
LindonManYes, and byu may as well have been the only team in the WAC
because they sure didn't have any competition. Edwards can certainly be
credited with changing the game of college football from a run only type of
strategy to a passing attack. However, once everyone started using the passing
game, byu languished. At this point, the games has passed byu by except for the
strategy they still employ as an independent of finding the weakest competition.
"Facing a tough schedule that includes trips to Wisconsin and
Notre Dame and home games against Texas and Boise State, in addition to
Utah..." I will even throw in Utah St and give the six tough games. There
is no argument to be made that 2013 is byu's toughest schedule but from an
historical perspective, that isn't saying much. What I
don't understand is the continual drum beat from byu land that their
schedule is BCS caliber. It isn't. There are only six BCS teams on the
schedule and only Texas could be considered an upper eschelon team from a BCS
conference. The make up simply does not translate to a BCS schedule.
And yet, no mention of the Utes still fellas!
MyPerspectiveWhat I don't understand is the continual drum beat from
byu land that their schedule is BCS caliber. It isn't. There are only six
BCS teams on the schedule and only Texas could be considered an upper eschelon
team from a BCS conference. The make up simply does not translate to a BCS

ND was only in the NCG last year after beating the PAC 12 champion, but
whatever. I'm sure you forgot that GT played in the ACC championship game
and throttled USC in their bowl game. As far as BCS quality schedule I think
using the BCS rankings is the most accurate way to evaluate that. BYU played
FIVE teams that finished in the BCS top 25 while Utah played TWO. BYUs opponents
had an average BCS ranking of 55.16 to Utah's 47.63...not that big a
difference. We could certainly include Colorado and Wash St on our schedule
because they are BCS teams, but that would only bring our SOS down. I think
we'll just stick to playing teams that are actually ranked in the BCS like
Black&Blue says "Ending the regular season 9-3 and Nationally
Ranked."Nice stab at a prediction. As you say, any attempt is
speculation. Hate to pick on yours, but note the only "signature" win
in your list is against Wisconsin. If it were some random Big 10 coach, maybe,
but coach Anderson knows BYU very well. Let's say they do get that
win...To finish in the Top 25, BYU would have to be in the top 25 already
when they get that win, because you have BYU losing the next week against ND.
With the polls, its better to lose early than to lose late. In your list, BYU
loses 2 of their last 5. That isn't poll-climbing material. 9-3 is
possible, but I wouldn't worry about national ranking. BYU's bowl
game is set by Texas.
Cougsndawgs,With as much as you know about BCS caliber schedules you
certainly must know Utah's SOS was ranked higher than BYU's, right?
BYU's schedule will be much tougher in its third year as an independent,
but Utah's will be tougher.BYU plays five BCS programs, and two
BCS equivalents (Notre Dame and Boise State).Utah plays nine BCS
programs, and one BCS equivalent - BYU.No football team from the
state of Utah has seen a tougher stretch of games than what Utah will see this
year win they face Oregon State, BYU, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, USC, ASU,
Oregon.According to Bleacher Report, BYU plays the 47th toughest
schedule, and Utah's is the 6th most difficult schedule in 2013.BYU will win 7-8 games, but unless the Utes are much improved, they may not
make it to a bowl for the second consecutive year.Go Utes!
motorbikeCottonwood Heights, UT"Based on the above,
I'll go with 6-6 for Utah which will see them back in a bowl game, albeit a

lower tier BYU type of bowl game probably WOULD be BYU. My personal pick? BYU

Cougsndawgs:So now you're pretending to be a UGa. fan who also
follows SJSU football? Haha! It's been a miserable past 11 yrs,
hasn't it? No wonder you're frantically searching for another team to
cheer for. Being a cougar fan must be SO embarrassing!
How quickly people forget.Bronco is good at beating no name teams,
but he doesn't rise to the occasion against decent teams. The
cougars have lost 3 in a row to Utah, and Utah hasn't even been that good
during these years, but still somehow cougar fans think that Bronco will somehow
coach them to victory this year.Bronco is too busy planning his next
fireside, or dreaming about Riley.Maybe BYU should think about
replacing their head coach, all of the other coaches have been fired since
Bronco came along (he forces blame on all of them, but doesn't take any
blame himself). How about hiring a football coach, and not a fireside
Y Grad / Y DadYou're right, that certainly was a bit of a dig
at the Cougars on my part. The truth is, I wouldn't be surprised if you end
up being right with the Cougs getting the W this year, especially being that the
game's in Provo. I'd give the two teams equal odds considering what
any of us know at this current date (which will likely be far different come
Utah'95"Utah plays nine BCS programs, and one BCS equivalent -
BYU."Seriously? byu is NOT a BCS equivalent.
As Coach Biff said:You think that schtick is still funny, Ernest?
Naval VetSpending more time obsessing about BYU than you do
supporting your own team IS so embarrassing (for you)!
My predictions for next year:BYU fans will think they will win the
National Championship. AGAIN. Utah will beat the Y. AGAINUtah State
will have the best team in the State and win their conference. AGAIN
Everyone that says USU will beat UofU and BYU again is dreaming. A few years
ago BYU got a wake-up call and it won't happen again. And as for UofU
losing a year ago, what a fluke. UofU didn't have a QB and that's the
only reason they lost. A fluke like that can't happen two years in a row.
@ Aggie84And BYU will beat Utah State again!
Looking forward to both my schools thumping the y. Hookem!!! Go Big Blue!!!
Incoming UTE football recruit, Dre'Vian Young, is going to be one kid to
watch after running the 3rd fastest 400m in the country!!!!

I lived in Georgia, followed them since Herschel Walker, but whatever you
say...I'm sure people take your word to mean something. I don't follow
SJSU football, or care about them, I simply pointed out the facts to a
frantically emotional ute fan trying to call them a "charity" last year.
Apparently the truth hurts ute fans more than others.Embarrassed to be a
cougar fan? Why should I be? We went bowling last year and haven't been
less than 8-5 since going independent. I think you're frantically
projecting your own feelings for the utes on me.
What's clearly evident is how flustered and in complete despair the byu
fanbase has become in the face of byu being incapable of ever beating UTAH,
"Frantic and emotional?" Really? Still using that phrase
huh? I think it's time for fans of a particular school to learn some new
vocabulary. Seems pretty frantic and emotional of you to keep using the same
old tired comebacks every time you get served.
Utah: 6-6BYU:6-6Utah State: 10-2I see Utah beating OSU,
probably not by much though, as well as BYU. Then they'll embark on a
losing streak before winning their final two games. As BYU continues to add
marquee match ups instead of mid-major doormats, I see them falling further and
further from the national discussion. An onslaught of 2 star recruits isn't
going to bring the Cougs a national championship. As for whoever said that BYU
will beat Wisconsin in Madison just becausee they'll be coming off a bye
week I say by that point in the season depth will be a major factor and an extra
week won't make the difference in a game against a top tier B1G team. USU could easily be as good as they were last year. They still have Chuckie,
their schedule isnt really all that bad, so reaching 10 wins should be the bar
they set for themselves.
First off The A Game's last comment was funny. Best comment so far. And
anyone who says USU will end up 10-2 again is also a comidian. Yes they still
have Keeton who has yet to prove himself. But they lost the most important part
of their team to Wisc. I don't think I have to say a name cough Gary
Anderson cough. Sorry about that. Something stuck in my throat. It's ok
it's gone now.
Mark this down. Vegas will have the y as the underdog when they head to Cache
So Vegas has no clue what they are talking about. No suprise there.
Go Big Blue!!!Bountiful, UT"Mark this down. Vegas will

Here's my take - and I know y'all been holdin your breath. It's
okay now, here it is:Utah: 5-7BYU:8-4Utah State: 10-2Utah loses to BYU (did I really just predict that???), going 4 in a row
is like going undefeated, it's harder than it looks. Utah will lose to BYU
sooner or later, I say why not this year?I think Utah State will
also lose to BYU, but otherwise have another uber-impressive year, go to a bowl,
end up ranked, and still get no respect. In Utah. Which is too bad.I actually think our new quarterback is going to come out looking much more
impressive than he gets credit for around here, but we'll keep quiet about
that. No need to tip off any Utes about that.
I dont know where this optimism is coming from, the y has no offensive line.
They were bad last year and looking much worse this year. Their praying 5 JC
lineman can come in at the last moment and carry them to the promised land. It
doesnt work that way. No O-line equals no run game, and injured quaterbacks. and
who is the back up quarterback.

your points, 1) the offensive line HAS to be better than last year.
New coach, new bodies, nowhere to go but up. Looking much worse??? You
aren't looking. Good, don't look.2) injured
quarterback(s). Not sure where you got the plural from there, but, just for
comparison, unlike a certain team up north, BYU has SEVERAL capable
quarterbacks, and Taysom Hill is NOT like the U's guy from last year.3) Ammon Olson, Munns, Billy, what, do you want the entire depth chart?
Geez, a lot of these posters are really negative. I think each of the FBS teams
in Utah will finish 7-5 at worst this season. Should be fun all around.
Does that include USU Sambone? Or do you still think they will end up 10-2?
It's a good question so I hope you answer it.
It's amazing how cocky, arrogant and over confident all of you BYU fans are
being on here. Truth is, Utah will be back this season. I know they'll beat
you guys down there in Provo this September. It'll be another disaster for
BYU. GO UTES!
