Even Russia has acknowledged that the USA has a clear advantage in conventional weaponry. We worked long and hard, and spent a lot of money to gain that advantage. It would now be totally foolish to give back that advantage to a lacking behind Russia.

That advantage is also over every other nation in the world. As the only remaining world superpower, it is vital to our own security interests to maintain a defensive superiority over avowed and potential enemies. To level the playing field in that regard, as Russia obviously wants and admits, would be one of the biggest military mistakes we could possibly make. Our primary security lies in strength. And to purposely not continue being stronger than our enemies would be simply ludicrous. It would open the door to disaster in the not too distant future.

As long as there are countries like Iran, North Korea, and even China out there, it is absolutely imperative that we continue maintaining our military superiority.
