I guess the BSA is news in Utah but let's be honest that they are not a barometer of what is happening in America these days when it comes to equal rights for Gays. They are being dragged along due to declining membership, dwindling corporate sponsorship and lack of public support. They're trying to appease everyone with their latest proposal and ultimately satisfy no one. I equate their latest offer to the civil rights movement in the 50's when racist argued "seperate and the same is equal". The right policy to have is that all men and boys are welcome no matter what their sexual preferences are.

Allowing all boys to join Boy Scouts but to keep Scout leaders as normal is a smart decision. All boys need help from their leaders. If they say they have Same Sex Attraction then now the leader knows better how to help the young man. It is not a genetic order so environment can help him and Scout leaders are on the front lines to help. But keep the fox away from the hen house.

@ RockOn: What information do you possess that indicates it is not a genetic disorder? Because no reputable source claims to have that information.

And please define "normal."

@ Maudine: If we discount God and only rely on "Nature" to determine what is normal, then how come the natural being requires non same sex relationships for procreation. My suggestion is we do not rely on opinion and wait until nature catches up before we allow gay anyone to join the "Boy Scouts" Can anyone tell me if the "Girl Scouts" organization is having the same issue about membership?

" If we discount God and only rely on "Nature" to determine what is normal, then how come the natural being requires non same sex relationships for procreation."

Speaking of "natural" -- homosexual activity has been noted in many non-human species. And remember that, in ANY species, very few of the animals actually reproduce. It is not at all unnatural for animals to not reproduce a single offspring during their entire lifetimes.

"Can anyone tell me if the "Girl Scouts" organization is having the same issue about membership?"

The Girl Scouts does not discriminate against anyone based on sexual orientation, in either their scouts or their leaders. And --wow! -- the world has not come to an end.
