It is not true based on any existing evidence, that either of the Obamas
surrendered their law license to avoid disciplinary action or criminal
prosecution. Nor is it true, contrary to what has been claimed on literally
thousands of anti-Obama blogs and websites, that the Obamas were
"disbarred" or had their law licenses "revoked" for any reason.
Disbarred attorneys are listed in the ARDC database as "Not authorized to
practice law due to discipline." The Obamas are not so listed. Moreover, neither the Illinois State Bar Association nor the ARDC lists any
accusations of misconduct or disciplinary actions against the Obamas. According
to a statement quoted by FactCheck.org, ARDC deputy administrator and chief
counsel James Grogan says the Obamas were "never the subject of any public
disciplinary proceedings."Quite to the contrary, a notice on the
website of the Illinois State Bar states that the Association is "proud"
to retain Barack and Michelle Obama as honorary members.People love
to lie to spread hate.
"I will cut taxes - cut taxes - for 95% of all working families. Because in
an economy like this, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the
middle-class."--Barack Obama 2008The Obama's did seek
different beliefs from what was said in a 2008 campaign speech. Increase taxes
- increase taxes.
The Obama administration surrounds themselves with leftest radicals. With the extreme left it is always do as say not as I do.Hypocrisy
is a way of life to the left.
@worf 4:11 p.m.Furry1993;I maybe wrong. Bill Clinton
could have been disbarred. My neighbor is a lawyer, and has his own
firm. He says the only reason you would voluntarily give up your license, is to
avoid being disbarred. Take it for what it's worth.-------------------------Bill Clinton's license was
suspended, he was not disbarred. If he had wanted it, he could have gotten it
back when the suspention time was over.A friend of mine, also a
lawyer, is from another state. My friend had licenses both in Utah and in his
home state. When he realized that he was staying here and would never again
practice law there, he gave up his license in there because he didn't want
the expense, both monetary and time, that would be necesary to maintain his
license in both states. That is the same thing the President and First Lady did
-- they gave up their licenses becaue they didn't want to spend the money
(license fee, malpractice insurance, etc.) and time neessary to mainntain their
licenses. Your friend was talking about what HE would do, not what
all lawyers would do. Take that for what it's worth.

I have a professional license I don't use anymore. Maybe I'll
surrender it to. Sounds like a wise thing.I wonder if Steve Young,or
Bill Clinton gave theirs up?
@worf 10:32 p.m. May 11, 2013Mrs Obama went to college, and became a
lawyer. It took years of hard work to accomplish this. Most people would be
proud of this feat.So why would Michelle, and Barack surrender their
lawyers license?--------------------------The President
and First Lady surrendered their licenses because they didn't intend to
practice law any more and didn't want to have to go to the time and expense
necessary to maintain licenses they weren't going to use. In case you
don't realize it, a lot of lawyers do that when they move to a different
state, enter politics or choose to follow a different career. There's
nothing unuaual about the fact that the President and First lady did so.
