Let these Social Justice attorneys PERSONALLY pay for the long-term rehab of these illegal aliens and let's see how long their hypocritical mouths keep moving.

And the lawsuit goes to show the sense of entitlement to this country and everything in it that we see with so many illegal aliens. And yes, Associated Press, that is what I will call them -- even if you choose instead to inaccurately and DISHONESTLY refer to them as "immigrants."

It's not right to force the public to pay for people here illegally. Taxes, higher premiums should not be forced up on us, when some Americans are doing without medical care.

This is how it should be, deportation without the use of courts. This is not deportation at all, how can it be deportation when people are given a free ride home after an extended vacation? Not being charged with any crimes is no reason to put them in court so whats the problem with the process? Hospitals are not obligated to give free care to any patients, legal or illegal, they follow the money.

The only way advocates can get illegal aliens into court and involve the ACLU, La Raza, or DOJ, is to charge them with a crime but if we deport them without being charged with a crime then their is no refuting the actions of the hospitals or the government of America or cause for trials. And this is why they are mad and can't stop the actions of those being sent home.

They refuse to be identified who they are and we can't prove who they are and its better than jail.

Re: "Doctors cannot expect hospitals to provide costly uncompensated care to patients indefinitely, the statement said."

Just another in a long, long series of fully intended political consequences of Obamacare implementation -- drive hospitals out of legitimate business, forcing them into dependence on government largesse, and compliance with draconian socialized-medicine regulations, for their continued existence.

Obama's real "legacy" -- the dismantling and destruction of the best health-care delivery system ever known.

The dismantling of the American health care system has begun. These reprehensible practices are just going to get worse when Obama Care kicks in fully next year. It cuts payments made to doctors and hospitals while at the same time requiring them to treat the indigent. The result is going to be huge insurance premium increases and soaring hospital/doctor costs on everyone else who, at least for now, can afford to pay their health care insurance premiums.

All this is happening while the U.S. Congress is trying to exempt itself from Obama Care.

If Obama Care is as great as many of these politicians told us; then why are those same people trying to exempt themselves from its tentacles?

In the course of one year, our hospital had two long term illegal immigrant patients, one was shot while robbing a store and the other injured in a car accident. The first spent 4 months in the hospital and was discharged to the court system and the other there close to a year on life support. The first likely cost to $1 million and the second probably more than $2 million. Part of the problem was that no long term care facilities will take the patients since they were here illegally and without insurance, but their home countries were also reluctant to accept them back. Very difficult situation for hospitals.

""They don't have advocates, and they don't have people who will speak on their behalf," said Miami attorney John De Leon, who has been arguing such cases for a decade."

Um, Mr. De Leon, it sounds like you are being their advocate.

If someone is here illegally, they should be deported. The US is being compassionate to provide emergency care. We have no moral or legal responsibility to continue to care for the illegals who should never have been in the US. The cost is more that monetary. Our cultural values are also under attack.

Thanks to Obamacare -- the "Affordable Care Act"! There are going to be many more issues concerning ACA that the Republicans tried to warn Congress and the nation about. I heard on the news this morning that jobs are going to be impacted with companies (including schools) laying off people because they cannot afford the "Affordable Care Act" costs. It is going to impact my insurance premiums, and yours, to pay for health care for the uninsured. We've just seen the tip of the iceberg, and we just may go down like the Titanic.

oh my word!
600 in 5 years? that's 0.01% of the 6,000,000 here illegally.
why isn't the company they were working for taking care of them?

and who cares if the countries they are from are reluctant to take them back?! if they have committed a crime, there should be IMMEDIATE deportation.

Civil rights groups cry "They don't have advocates,..." They have no advocates, or no one to "speak on their behalf" because they are ILLEGAL. The problem isn't lack of advocacy, it's lack of legal citizenship. Enter legally and watch how quickly the benefits of advocacy mount.

When I was at the hospital last semester, there was a Mexican lady who had "coupons" for healthcare. She didn't speak a lick of English, and she was getting a procedure that costs the taxpayers a couple grand. Where does it end. Why do I work my butt off going to school, paying for my education, paying my taxes, and yet I still have to pay for those who are here illegally and/or do nothing for themselves?

You're a passanger on the Titanic. It has sunk. You are in a safety boat that is filled to capacity. Any more passangers plucked from the waters will drown your boat and would sink the safety boat leaving not a single survivor.

What do you do?

Such is health care in America. It is not a right. People cannot provide Health Care for free. As more costs are passed on to insured, the cost of insurance will rise. More people will not be able to afford insurance.

Come on, people, even Liberals HAVE to understand this. Right?????

Note that they were deported to MEDICAL facilities in their home country, not dumped in the dirt across the border. That, AFTER being given a lot of treatment and in a stable condition.

We should be proud of the compassion and treatment provided, not critical of the realities of costs versus benefits.

Anyone who wants to pay for the continued care of illegal immigrants is welcome to do so, indeed should be REQUIRED to do so, and let those of us who think we have done more than our share already preserve our earnings to care for our own families and those we choose to voluntarily assist.

Today is Monday. The traditional day for yet another heart rending tale of woe and guilt about illegal immigrants in the Deseret News. This is really getting old, and annoying, if not unjournalistic advocacy foisted off on subscribers as "news."

How about some stories about Utah families who do without things they would like, or need, because their earnings are being confiscated to support others, or their medical bills are inflated to cover the cost of care given to those who do not pay for it?

Best story I have read in a month! Kudos to IOWA!!!!!

This is great news. The U.S. Taxpayer should not have to pay for Illegal Border Crossers medical treatment or any other social services they try to obtain.

Stories like this are incidentally why the "here by" date in the current Gang Of 8 Immigration Giveway of 2013? Is 2011.

You need to call your senators TODAY and begin lobbying them to vote against that abomination of a bill.

Fitness Freak

The biggest reason to oppose the newest immigration bill is that it provides all kinds of freebies to illegal trespassers, (including free healthcare due to their low incomes), while at the same time gives employers who have exploited illegals an amnesty.

Utahs' congressional delegation will, hopefully, ALL vote against the latest amnesty bill. Those of you in other states SHOULD contact your delegation to urge them to vote NO.

Never, in my life have I seen Congress have such little regard for its own citizens!
