It is now good to know who really promote family values. Not our Utah delegation

This was not a total loss for Obama.

Now he's got more ammo for blaming Republicans over his failed economic agendas, and whatever. Doesn't matter that Democrats voted down his gun control bill. Our follow citizens wouldn't know the difference.

No more shameful than the "Fast and Furious" gun running scheme by Holder and his minions.

I noticed that in the article, it mentioned that the senators were afraid of a "vocal Minority" of gun owners. If that is true and a possibility in the next election, then maybe the 'minority' is not really a minority after all.

I can't say I was all that surprised at how the vote went. The NRA and the gun manufacturing industry parcel out large sums in campaign contributions to elect opponents and defeat proponents of legislation that impacts gun sales. It's no overstatement to say moral cowardice of some in the Senate was a decisive factor in the defeat of expanded background checks. May the voters remember their names next election.

Truth is, Obama knew that the bill would never pass the House. He wanted it to pass the Senate so that he could then blame the Republicans in the House for the defeat of the bill, which he thought would play well at the 2014 midterms. Now Obama is saddled with the fact that some Democrats joined with the Republicans in defeating the bill in the Harry Reid Senate. Interesting to see how childish the man Obama can act when he doesn't get his way. Here's my advice BO. When things don't go your way, go golfing.

The President was hoping the Democrat Senators would listen to him and jump when told. Those Senators are up for an election and know that this President has his agenda and won't support them for election and if he does, that the people may vote for the Republican.

The President wanted the Senate to vote for his changes to make it the House of Representative's fault for not passing to get to the people's hearts to vote against all those people in Congress in 2014. He wanted all control over everything, even the Supreme Court, to be the most non-lame duck with Chicago tactics in control.

Gun Control is an issue of freedoms that can be lost, not necessarily just the loss of control. Freedoms are more important. Living in Germany, 25 years after the war, I still saw some evidence of those inroads Hitler made in the 1930s and 1940s. I could see why we were there as a military power protecting ourselves against Russia. Being in South Korea off and on for 5 1/2 years, I could see why we were there as North Korea and China are still a threat for that area and Alaska.
