Could it be that inflation is in the best interest of the government? People are pushed in to higher tax brackets while their purchasing power remains the same. Inflation allows the government to deal with debt that was folishly acquired (3 trillion dollar Iraq War)by paying down this debt with dollars that are worth dramatically less than the dollars they borrowed.
I view inflation as the "Silent Thief" who steals from people who try to save their money and avoid debt. It is also harmful to those who are unable to demand salary increases to keep up with inflation and those who are on fixed incomes.
It will be a tough ride for our children and grandchildren. Our political decisions will impact them.
