CPS is a perfect example of what Margaret Thatcher said: "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."
Chicago is plagued with neighborhoods that do not generate property tax revenue (the primary source of school funding in Illinois) coupled with a "product" that fails to graduate students.
A rather militant teachers union has run the show for so long that the system cannot afford itself.
Did you notice that the primary concern of some parents is that new school boundaries will require children to venture in to the turf of rival gangs.
Yes, it is that bad in Chicago, a democrat stronghold for 50 years.
What a mess.
So many financial burdens, and programs.
Simplifying our schools may, or would prevent closures.
