Colorado is a western state that has seen two horrific mass shootings, and with that type of proximity to heavily armed insanity, it's a fair assumption that Coloradoans have done some very deep, serious thinking about these issues.

Assuming these laws are passed, and in 10 years Colorado sees a reduction in homocides and suicides, this will give serious food for thought for other states.

At least one state out of fifty has some sensible legislators.

welcome to Colorado - no guns allowed and all the Marijuana you can smoke. Colorado is going to destroy itself just like all the other liberal run states (Michigan, Illinois, New York, etc...).

patriot---No guns allowed? Maybe you should learn a little about what you are commenting on.

10CC,
so if one state bans cars and sees a significant reduction in automobile deaths, all other states should ban cars?

Colorado is not going to "ban" guns, although if it did, it would be fair to think that gun deaths would decrease. As for cars, they are meant for uses other uses than killing, wouldn't you agree?

@10CC

It is a knee jerk reaction, that does absolutley nothing,

It dows not solve any of the real problems, it is just a feel good bandage that assaults liberty.

Criminals, or those with criminal intenet will not follow any law created.

While gun deaths may go down, violence will sky rocket like has everywhre else the extreme gun regualtion.

And the innocnet and law abiding will suffer.

How about dealing with the real cultural and societal problems, rather than making more silly and oppresive laws and regulating inanimate objects.

The gun control activists are exactly the ones "running around screaming the sky is falling". This media generated frenzy to create restrictive gun laws is driven by a few high profile cases which have made the gun-grabbers feel insecure.

I am not minimizing the tragedy to the families and communities to which these tragedies happened, but statistically, their number is insignificant when compared to the number of people who die every year from other non-natural deaths. According to the CDC, in 2010, over 10,000 people were killed by DUI drivers, 211 of whom were children between the ages of 0 and 14. Incidentally, that 10,000 fatalities in 2010 represents only 31% of the number killed in traffic accidents in 2010. According to the WHO, alcohol-related deaths kill more than AIDS, TB or violence. In the US that number is 75,000 annually. Or what about the little known fact that 17,000 people die each year as a result of the use of NSAID medications.

I could go on about the faulty perspective of gun-grabbers, but it only falls upon deaf-ears and blind-eyes.

@ Mark B

The firearms industry does not create guns to commit murder, and cutlery manufacturers don't make kitchen knives to commit murder. It is wrong to assert that traffic accidents do not enter into the equation because cars weren't manufactured to kill over 30,000 people a year.

The alleged reason for gun control is to save lives. If we are concerned about saving lives, the problem should be attacked where the efforts do the most good, starting with what causes the most unnatural deaths, and then work your way down. Spree killings are an extremely small number statistically when compared to other causes of death. It is spree killings that has given the gun-grabbers the impetus create this ridiculous campaign
