A waste of an evening...dinning with the enemy. Barack tried his silly scare tactics with sequestration and that didn't pan out too well - especially after Wallstreet actually saw less government spending a good thing - so now it's on with the next phase of the Obama side show ... a pretend meeting with the GOP. One day we might actually get a real leader in the White House ... hopefully it won't be too little too late.

"dining with the enemy". WOW so the President is now the enemy, that could explain the problem we have in this country

@ Fred44. If you love freedom, Obama is your enemy.

@ Old Man. Its not the GOP that is whining for more and more taxes so the government can redistribute it to people who didn't earn it making it easier to live off other people than to work for a living, hence 50 million of food stamps. Its not the GOP that wants to ignore the second amendment or fly drones over your homes and kill you without due process. It wasn't the GOP that passed Obamacare that put the government in charge of your healthcare causing turmoil. It wasn't the GOP that would not protect our ambassador in Benghazi and it wasn't the GOP that sold guns to Mexican drug lords who killed a border agent and hundreds of other innocent people. It wasn't the GOP that forced banks to give sub prime housing loans to people who had no ability or intention of servicing their loans which cause the last economic collapse. It wasn't the GOP that wasted nearly a trillion taxpayer dollars most of which went to union members and failed green energy companies! It wasn't the GOP that demanded a sequester and then lied about it. Out of space.

Before the Bush tax cuts we were running a surplus, ever since a deficit. What needs to be done seems pretty clear to me. I am tired of hearing about how the government goes ever deeper into our pockets. Our tax rates are still much lower then they were 50 years ago. Nobody likes paying taxes but living in a civilized society requires it. It is time to act like adults.

Mountanman-
Thanks for the insight but now I have no need to watch Fox tonight.

The Democratic party of JFK does not exist anymore (Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country). Today's Democratic party is dominated by the 60's hippies and their dogma of secular progressivism, Charles Darwin and Karl Marx socialism/communism. Democrats win elections by giving low information voters entitlements that taxpayers have no hope of ever paying for, hence our $17 trillion national debt and growing by about $1.5 billion a day. 47% of Americans pay no federal income taxes at all. Cultural decline as generated by welfare dependency is so bad in most of our cities that more people are murdered in Chicago every year than die in Afghanistan. America is doomed to fail as a nation as a free society mostly because of today's Democratic party.

@mountain man
so a freely elected president of the US recently elected by the majority of Americans is the enemy of freedom but your failure to be willing i work with the president that was freely elected by the majority of Americans just a few short months ago is makes you the friend of freedom?

The GOP party of Teddy Rossevelt, Eisenhower and Nixon does not exist anymore either. Today's GOP is dominated by low intelligent, right wing, idelogues who don't know or want to balance a budget. They're driven by exclusive policies and principles and would rather see our country die first before compromise. They're selfish and would sell out future generations right to our natural resources for short term profit and pride.
But unlike you, I don't believe America is doomed as a nation as our youth and immigrants grasp the concepts that made this country what it is. Their voices are growing and we're witnessing America being re-born.

@ HS Fan. While I see the GOP very differently than you, quite the opposite in fact, I hope you are right about America being re-born! I really do! If your vision of America's future is to become Western Europe, i.e. France, Spain, Greece, et al, their future is doomed already and unsustainable. We are already very much like them in everyway possible already. My hope for America is a nation of self reliant, productive and free people who live by correct principles and govern themselves because ultimately they who will not govern themselves are destined to be governed by tyrants.

Mountanman-
I've been to France, Greece and many other Western European Nations. You can't group them together or generalize. Culturally as well as economically they are very different. Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and others have their fiscal house in order. Additionally, they are beautiful countries with great people. They're not Americans nor do they want to be. Their values are quite different. I felt safer in most place in Europe than I do when I travel in the States. Societies and cultures rise and fall and will continue to do so. I feel good about America and its future when I see and talk with our younger generation. No doubt they are more liberal and progressive than their parents but they seem to be stronger and more socially conscious than the "me" generation in which I was raised.

Yeah, Patriot. It's going to be hard to wait for Hillary to be elected. But in the meantime, maybe Obama will still be able to outlast GOP obstruction in Congress.

I hope that this change in tactics will carry on. If Obama had been meeting regularly with GOP & Democrat leaders in Congress I would bet much more could have been accomplished, and fewer mistakes made.

Obama has tried to rule unilaterally "You can ride the bus but you'll have to sit at the back", cramming Obamacare down our throats without allowing amendments or GOP input "You have to pass the bill to know what is in it" (Pelosi), executive orders, etc.

All his methods have done is embolden the GOP and conservative (and even independent) voters to resist his agenda.

Again, I hope that Obama will continue to meet with GOP leaders, as well as Democrat leaders to get things done.

I love it when righties call for compromise, and then when both sides do get together, you get posts like Patriot's and Mountanman's!

Enemy you say. "To defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic." It is evident to many who the domestic enemy is. The framer's could see that there would be wannabe Dictators and lo and behold it has come to pass.

Yes it is...and most of them hail from a single entertainment/news? corporation.

Corporate folks tried to overthrow the President before, now they are trying to stir others into doing it for them.

Happy: You forgot to mention Bush. Do not liberals go there first. But i am not dissapointed your sweeping up after the King.
