"To combat the situation, Krystkowiak wants the Utes to get back to the basics — mastering things like pass and catch and putting the ball in the basket."

The pass and catch part should be working pretty well by now coach, you practice that for 30 seconds on every possession.

It's the whole putting the ball in the basket thing that seems to need more practice - 268th in the country in scoring.

I think it's the basics that have resulted in their current record. While other teams are executing plays, the Utes are simply playing catch with each other and hoping next year will be better. It's time to step it up coach; you have a great group of kids and you should expect more from them.

Battle for the basement tonight.

After Washington State's upset of UCLA last night, the loser of tonight's Utah-OSU game will have the inside track to finishing 12th.

Go Utes!

Let's sell this thing out tonight Utes!

Show up to support our team to victory.

This program is heading in the right direction. It takes time in a new conference with a new coach. Coach K2 is a great defensive minded coach, now he needs some offensive scoring to compliment his defensive prowness (not perfect).

Getting into the tournament, for some, especially in light of being 10th, is shameful, but for these kids its an opportunity to keep playing.

Go UTES!!

As one basketball analyst noted recently:

Don't think of the PAC 12 as a normal basketball conference - treat them as a random results generator...

Sell this thing out? Seriously? You would need to more than double the highest attendance for a battle of the basement game. Don't think so.

"I think Thursday is a big-time game for us. We can get into 10th place," he said. "So I think it's a very big opportunity for our team."

I can't come up with a single joke that's as funny as that quote itself. Will they be cutting down the nets if they clich *snicker* 10th place?

I hope Coach K can get things put together. We need to have the Utes competitive. Hopefully, if they can be competitive then Chris B can stop worrying about BYU.

The Utes have only scored 68+ points ONCE in 16 conference games.

I just spit all over my keyboard laughing. "Let's sell this thing out tonight". Chris Hasn't heard that Dr. Hill already sold us out about 3 head coaches ago.

But, we're "marking it down" again. That's never a good thing coming from her. Like clockwork though, good for another great laugh.

Does finishing 12th raise our position in the draft lottery? We might want to consider throwing this game.

Another tough year in SLC. Unfortunately, next year doesn't look much better. But next year could be the rebuilding year the Utes have been looking for. 2014 / 2015 should be a better year for the Utes.

But 2014/2015 will be the beginning of a very special four year run for the TDS. Look for the Cougs to make a couple of deep runs into the NCAA around 2016. The sun is shining bright down South.

"Sell this thing out"???? Seriously?? 68 points? Really?? Get a "W"?? Wow.

@Chris B:
I marked down your prediction of Utah by 10, as you requested. Since OSU has lost 13 of their last 16 games, most fans, like you, would think this should be an easy Ute victory.
Because I admire your unbiased comments so much, I'm going to give you the opportunity to look really intelligent to all our fellow comment readers by betting you that OSU comes closer to winning by 10 than Utah does.
If the Utes win, I will buy and wear a Ute cap around for a week, something that would shock people who know me. If OSU wins, you do the same with a BYU cap, something that will shock those who know you. Because you have the advantage of being home team, you also need to say something sincerely complimentary of BYU in your next online sports comment, which is something you've never done before... but only if the Utes should lose.
All in good fun. Good luck to you, Chris B.

I'm going with the drum and feathers cap. It actually looks pretty cool. My wife is going to town today and said she will pick it up for me.
I'm going to keep my part of the bet, even though Chris never confirmed he even saw my bet offer, thus technically not agreeing to it. But I'm not one to weasel out on a technicality. The Utes played a good game. I was impressed. Maybe I'll even look good in red for a week. :)

CougfanTX- counting your chickens before they hatch again huh? You guys should know that is a bad idea. A few years ago Heaps was your saviour and was going to lead you to the promised land (BCS bowl) how did that work out again? Looking ahead to when the Lone Peak kids get off their missions is a little funny, but good luck with that. Utah basketball is rebuilding, has been for years, and may take a few more. AS I said in a previous post, Utah might get to the big dance before the cougies, and that would be embarrassing to any Y fan, since the Utes are so bad right now. Remind me the last time you guys were in a Final Four? What about a BCS game? Crickets... Ok, I know, I'm hung up on the past, but it is the recent past, not as bad as looking back to 1984
