Comments about ‘Is $500 enough for enduring the Carnival Triumph cruise?’

Come on! Really? Something broke and caused an engine fire that crippled the ship. No one was hurt from the ship hitting land, an iceberg or something of that nature. A problem with something mechanical. In my opinion, you take on a certain amount of risk when flying, travelling by bus, train or boat. To get a full refund, money spent while on the cruise, a free future cruise, AND $500, that's a pretty good deal. They had food, water, a place to sleep. Ok, the toilets were a problem. But being a former scout, I could have handled that no problem. Plastic bag? No problem. They had TP, what are they crying about? Because of the news coverage, a lot of these "victims" were sobbing it up for the camera, hoping to get more. Some have sued. I hope they lose. If Carnival has to pay out an outrageous settlement, that will only affect cruise prices for those of us who want to take one later.

Come on people, quit playing the victim. You took a cruise, had to spend a little more time than you thought, and poo in a bucket. Too bad. You've been compensated enough.

Between the fine print on the tickets, maritime law and the laws where the ship is registered, the law-suits are pretty much dead in the water. (pun intended)
