I recall as a kid reading the comic where Superman dies. My friend and I spent a
long time afterwards discussing who should take over as leader of the Justice
League. This was extremely important as the fate of the world could depend on
the moral character and power of the leader and how they would shape the future
of the non-super hero human population of Earth under their care.I’ve since put away childish things, but can’t help to sometimes
long for those days when our harmless fantasies seemed so real and pressing.
Sometimes we even dressed up in elaborate costumes which made it all the more
real and relevant to us.
