Hagel is a very good fit.

In contrast to too many of our leaders, he is going to resist getting into the expensive needless wars our nation seems so prone to getting into.

Senator John McCain seems very proud of our surge in Iraq, something which Hagel opposed. Because this surge was successful Senator McCain tried to get Hagel to admit he made a mistake in opposing the surge. Though Hagel overstated the case, he was right about the surge.

The United States won that battle, but it was a battle in a war that didn't need to be fought. Therefore its nothing to be overly proud about. We have spend so much on needless war we are now in the financial situation we see ourselves in, and this is a real risk to our national security.

I support Hagel, because its clear he will look for excuses not to go to war instead of the other war around.

But, but . . . . but he's not a war monger.

How can we have someone like that in charge of our military? The industrial side of the military/industrial complex really won't like that at all.
