Will they hold BO and Holder responsible for all the Mexicans killed by fast and furious guns?

How about Toyota every time someone dies when a Toyota gets in a wreck?

I my self see nothing wrong wiith what there doing. You go to a bar get drunk and the bar tender keeps on selling you drinks and you get in a wreck, they can charge him and the bar, so whats the big deal? Oh and i do own guns.

If the gun maker sells you a gun without a back ground check...

you should be liable.

Or did the Colorado shooter who purchased 6,000 rounds of ammunition, only to go on and kill Americans watching a movie...

make the bullets himself?

Non Here,

The difference is that we as a society tend to absolve the drinker of responsibility for his actions while drunk. The blame for his actions then shifts to the only other person who could have prevented the condition and was in full control of his faculties but did not. The bartender is not the manufacturer of the misused product.

A more accurate comparison would be to attempt to force a sausage manufacturer out of business by making them liable for a heart attack caused by over-consumption of hot dogs. By making it too expensive to stay in business, the sausage shop would close up and our supposed victim would become a vegetarian. It's all about the government wanting to control you by limiting your choices. And we go along with it because we are all too willing to allow someone else to take the blame for our choices.

@Pagan - Neither of the shooters in the Aurora or Sandy Hook shootings had any criminal or other record that would have showed up in a background check. The Sandy Hook shooter didn't use his own guns, he used his mother's guns. Furthermore, you fault the vendor who sold the Aurora shooter the ammunition he used, but he bought his ammunition over the internet (probably from more than one vendor.)

I agree that we need to do everything we can to curb gun violence, but let's be sensible. Are we going to penalize the 99% of responsible gun owners who've never done anything wrong and never will? There's a middle ground to be found here, so let's find it.

To "not here" we are not saying to hold the bars responsible. Why not hold the beer and alcohol manufacturers liable for any act of violence (including drunk driving)?

They are insane. The guns worked correctly, the problem was either how they were sold or how they were used. The guns were not the problem, the people were.
