Absolute insanity.

Has America become a nation of the insane, for the insane, and by the insane?

I'm seeing a trend lately and feel Europe laughing at us.

Can we dispose of the laughable theory that more guns makes us safer.

dig deeper and find the real issue. Who gives a rip what Europe thinks of us? I'm certainly not trying to impress anyone from Europe with anything I do. Can we dispose of the laughable theory that guns are bad? Every time someone gets shot, some people freak out about guns. Why don't we freak out about cars every time someone dies in an accident? I'll tell you why. It's not the car, it's the operator. Human error causes bad things to happen, but you can't fault the 99.9% of gun owners who are responsible with their firearms every time someone gets shot. There was a stabbing recently (several actually) are we freaking out about knives? I hope the next time I go to Sizzler, I can still get a steak knife with my meal!

@joseywales
Since you want to compare guns to cars should we place the same types of regulations on guns as we do cars? Shall we make anyone that operates one have license which they must renew every five years, require their gun pass a safety inspection and be reregistered every year, require that all guns have liability insurance? should we really be comparing guns to cars? is that really going to win this argument?

I support gun rights but we need to stop with silly comparisons.

Tolstoy- safety inspections on cars are so that your car doesn't fall apart on the freeway and cause an accident. Most of us guys maintain our vehicles and pass these silly inspections with flying colors, but some don't maintain their vehicle properly and they are the cause and reason we have these government mandated safety inspections anyway. One more way that people develop a false sense of security. I personally don't mind the licensing requirement, most of us took hunter safety and had to pass that so that we could hunt. But the reality is, you could make a law to require people to have a license, but criminals won't get one anyway, they will skirt that law the way the guy who almost killed that poor lady in Uintah county with his car yesterday, no license, no insurance, dui, didn't keep him off the road did it?

So I agree it's kind of a silly comparison, but sometimes you have to be as silly as the people complaining to get them to understand guns by themselves are only as dangerous as the operator.
