Do yourself and your friends a favor. When getting married, go to the court or the Temple and let that be that. Make no expense for anyone including yourself.
Use the money saved for an emergency fund, towards a house, or at the very least to not get into debt.
Don't do dumb things just because everyone else does or out of tradition.
