Clearly Rubio doesn't agree with the GOP platform. They are working a
deal for their political benefit, not in our best interest.
The problem for Americans is that only the business interests are considered.
The problems for the American people will not be solved. A help for
America would be if a tax were to be put on business to pay for all the expenses
of the illegal aliens. Business is the reason they are here.
Bravo to the statesmen that are in the Senate! Where they have failed on other
issues they have recently shown signs worthy of redemption. A great deal of
credit should be given to the humility and willingness of the few Democrats and
Republicans that are willing to place aside ideology and develop a
resolution. This is something that the President and the House have
failed to accomplish due to childish name calling and innuendo. The fact that we
have not put an end to this quasi-slavery issue is a stain and curse upon this
nation. I hope we finally can move forward and fix this situation. I
am not a big fan of Obama but if he will stay out of the way and let these
statesmen fix this problem it raises my opinion of him. Equally I am not a fan
of the extreme right but if they will allow these statesmen in the senate to put
an end to this unacceptable treatment of people within our boarders, the
accolades should be likewise shared.
Their priorities should put the 20 million Americans looking for full time work
first. There is nothing new here, promises of enforcement that
won't be kept, and amnesty for 11 million that will encourage 20 million
more here illegally. We have had seven amnesties, if you want to reform the
system, you start enforcing the laws. The same old amnesty is not reform,
it's business as usual.
Apparentally both political parties care more about illegal aliens than their
own LEGAL constituents. The burden in terms of "free stuff" for illegal
trespassers is massive. If the givernment bureaucrats pass this
amnesty, there will be yet another group of illegal trespassers lined up at the
border. They certainly can't enforce illegal immigration if they
don't TRY. E-verify would cost next to nothing to implement and would
solve 80-90% of the problem. Why would they ENFORCE a new law when they
don't enforce the existing law?Maybe its time for a 3rd
political party that will be dedicated to enforcing laws rather than making
excuses for lawbreakers!
Oh the trick question for Rubio.Either way he rolls on this, he can loose
the next election. One day, in a land far far away, there will be a
politician that stands up, and stands by what they say.And they never
change there minds for votes.Until then, there all cons on both sides of
Best comment on illegal immigration. Vernon Briggs, a Cornell University labor
economics professor: "The toleration of illegal immigration undermines all
of our labor; it rips at the social fabric. It's a race to the bottom. The
one who plays by the rules is penalized... a guest worker program guarantees
wages will never go up, and there is no way American citizens can compete with
WHY does he have to go to Las Vegas again?! The campaign is over. How MUCH
does this trip cost US?! Somebody in the know...how much does this
cost the taxpayers?
I already sent emails to hatch, lee, and matheson. Let them know how you feel,
deluge their mailboxes.
It's the same old same old, just politics and rhetoric. The only thing this
will accomplish is to tell those that break our laws and thumb their noses at
our society that we can do what we want and still be given a free ride as long
as we vote for a particular party. It will simply encourage more of the same.
Rome was destroyed following the same path we as a country are following. It
took them several centuries to accomplish it, we are setting a new record for
history. Many around the world are cheering on the process. I distress for my
children and their children. I'm old and I will not watch much longer.
I'm sad to see much more pain and anguish for Americans because of a
"Allowing more low-skill workers into the country and allowing employers to
hire immigrants if they can demonstrate they couldn't recruit a U.S.
citizen; and establishing an agricultural worker program."NO!!!
This will NOT work! Employers will have so many loopholes when demonstrating
that they couldn't recruit US citizens. There are already enough immigrants
- illegal and legal - to satisfy an agricultural worker program. I speak from
experience - the H-1B visa in the technology fields have a similar requirement -
that the employer must demonstrate that they "tried" to hire US workers
first before hiring a foreign worker. The loopholes are numerous and ridiculous,
such that if an employer does not want to hire a US worker, even if there are
hundreds applying for the job, then the employer has dozens of loopholes to
choose from to bypass the requirement of offering the job to a US worker
first.Let's not forget that all of this is about one thing and
one thing only: unlimited supplies of dirt-cheap labor. Please see
the following Youtube video demonstrating this: "Lou Dobbs: Law Firm teaches
how to avoid hiring Americans".
Why do our lawmakers favor foreign citizens over actual U.S. citizens? Our neighbors are unemployed. Illegal aliens cost the taxpayers of this
country hundreds of billions in subsidies (free healthcare, free education, WIC,
foodstamps, etc), yet politicians, in their pandering to business tell us we
need ever more cheap labor.Lately, high-tech companies have tried to
make a case to hire more educated workers also at a discounted wage rate.
I wonder if the Border Patrol agents who put their lives on the line day in and
day out are fuming about this? They must be thinking, why? Why am I out here
getting shot at and crawling through snake infested desert, when Barry and his
Lemmings want to just let these guys in? Maybe we should just open the borders,
legalize drugs, and see where that gets us. Canada is looking pretty good right
now. Problem is, they already see what is going to happen and are tightening up
their side. I think there should be a law that says if you don't enforce
the laws already on the books, then all laws are null and void. Chaos. It's
coming my friends.
It's always sad to see politicians who are willing to sell out their
principles for votes. Unfortunately, it happens all too often. This is yet
another example. Instead of fighting for what they previously and publicly
stated to constituents that they believe in, many are now in effect saying,
"if we can't beat em (after a couple of tries), let's just join
em." Sad, indeed. There is no valid reason to ever offer to
illegal alien law-breakers any additional path to citizenship. They already have
one. They can at any time go back to their countries and file legally thru the
existing system for green cards and then follow the rules... just like everyone
else who are already doing it correctly and legally. That it takes some
additional time is just part of the price to be paid. We should never, ever
encourage or reward illegal behavior. Yet, this latest so-called reform bill
will do exactly that! There is no good excuse. Period!
At least Mike Lee had the integrity to leave the gang of eight.Let's
hope more senators follow him.
As easy as 1, 2, 3..."...For Republicans, the November elections
were a stark schooling...".Stark schooling?We
got'em right were we want'em."...In order to satisfy
the concerns of Rubio and other Republicans, the senators are calling for the
completion of steps on border security...".How high to build the
fence as well as how much electricity to put into the fence, in order to get the
job done...And finally..."...It's a race to the
bottom...a guest worker program guarantees wages will never go up...".Perfect.
It would be a great day for America if we could reach some consensus on
meaningful immigration reform. It saddens me to see that the hate and No Nothing
party are still alive in Utah. But you are a dying breed. The majority of
Utahans have realized that these are real people with real families and that on
the most part they make up an important part of our community. I love the many
undocumented people I know. They are incredible people who have grown uses to
putting up with your bigotry and misinformation.
Hey Tom- I love those immigrants that I've come to know too. The real issue
here is how did they come to be here? If they did it illegally then they are law
breakers and need to do it correctly. How's this? What if someone you love
commits a crime, you know, breaks the law (see the deal here) should we just
forgive them and say it's ok, I know you mean well and you work hard? NO!
Laws are there for a reason. I have no problem with any immigration as long as
it's done legally. Why is this so hard for you guys to understand? Follow
the proper channels, get it done legally and then there is no reason to fear
getting sent back home, wherever that is.I just don't
understand why some people think it's ok to break laws. The problem is, if
you break a law to get here, won't you think that it's ok to break
more laws down the road? Breaking the immigration laws is a gateway to breaking
harsher, more serious laws right?
Here's another idea. What if instead of allowing illegals to stay under the
guise of "they do the work, that others won't" maybe we should
allow all of those individuals on welfare (47%ers) to get out and work. I'm
not saying all, because I know that there are those that truly can't work,
but there are plenty of able bodied people on assistance that could benefit from
doing some labor. The other thing that bugs me is that some of these
companies that "can't afford" higher wages for American citizens,
are the same companies with profits in the millions. Maybe if we stopped
supporting these companies that hire illegals, they would figure out a way to
get it done.
Tom - what is the party of "hate and do nothing"?You do
realize, I hope, that comments regarding illegal alien enforcement are coming
from BOTH sides of the aisle?
Tom... you do realize that if every nice person in the world that had a good
work ethic and you were able to find something likable about, were to just come
here unregulated by law, we would have more people living here than in China...
in the billions. Yes, we are still the envy of most of the world, which is why
so many people still try to sneak in here illegally. But without laws and
immigration controls (even for nice, likable people), we would now be living in
horrible, overcrowded conditions... a situation that even people like you would
finally understand needs to be regulated and controlled. There's a
reason that every industrialized country in the world has and maintains their
immigration laws. America needs to start maintaining hers better, regardless of
how nice and likable the law-breakers are.
Weird, their agreement is even more liberal than I am on the issue. Been a long
time since I've thought that about a bipartisan agreement.
Try teaching a child honesty, and then try teaching him about illegal
immigration. The open border movement is destroying this country at
And Congress becomes more useless than ever. Vote them all out and start over.
We couldn't be any worse off than we are now.
