If you live in Utah, you should know that our legislature has much more important things to do that write laws that will protect people.
There are all sorts of wild message bills that need to be passed that are much, much more important and a flock of special interests that need attention.
There is already a law on the books that punishes drivers that text. In fact if a driver causes harm they could be facing a felony charge. In fact this law was mentioned in 2009 by the New York Times.
Using a cell phone while driving is already a crime, called reckless driving. There is no need to make another law. If someone is driving recklessly, and is using their cell phone, they can get a ticket.
Why make one more thing illegal, when we should be doing the opposite. We know that making something illegal doesn't stop it from happening. Using a cellphone is not a crime, only when driving just won't work. It will generate revenue if that is what you are after. Is that what you are after?
