Human nature, being what it is, will only get more casualties out of a unit of mixed male and female combatants. The only way women should be sent into the front lines is as a member of an all women unit. If they can do the job as well as men, then let them do it without male involvement/interferance.

This is an example of political correctness at its worst. It needlessly exposes women to death, capture, and torture and it also weakens the strength of the armed forces.

The army should not be forced to ignore the fact that there are inherent physical and mental differences between men and women. For tens of thousands of years, victorious armies have been composed of men. If women were better fighters, those armies would have been composed of women.

There is a reason why CNN has reported that sexual misconduct is at an all time high in the army. The presence of women has caused the soldiers to focus on sex, not fighting.

Ban women from combat. That is the only way to keep the army strong.

When women first began "invading" firehouses to become firefighters, there was a tremendous hue and cry from the men. There was a lot of yelling that women were not strong enough to haul a charged hose around or conduct a rescue of a heavy person or pull a hose up a ladder.

But then a strange thing happened. The men began to notice that the women COULD do it. They often did it faster and with much less effort than had been the case with traditional methods. (The fire service was once a traditionally tradition bound and inbred group of people.)

So the men began asking, "How'd you do that?"

The women smiled and showed them. They had simply used their brains instead of brawn. Now the men are doing things much more easily, safely, and smartly.

But I have to admit. I have some very, very serious concerns about this. Combat is not nearly as nice as firefighting.

I know during the dying days of the Nephite civilization, they allowed women and children in combat. Coincidence? I think not.

There are numerous examples of both gay men and women and heterosexual women serving in the military of almost all western powers. Yet in every case disaster was predicted if the change was made. The result was of course that nothing happened and the world kept on spinning as it always had. I think the Springmeister is worried that women won't know what to do with their petticoats in the trenches. He matches in age and opinion with Sen. McCain, ok we are all on notice now from you both and will earnestly be watching the skies for signs of it falling.

Mixing the sexes on the battle field where you might have to live in trenches or worse, and privacy is out the window is not a good idea.

I find the double speak of he neocon crowd most baffling. Just weeks ago in response to the slaughter o 20 young children the plan de jour was to arm our teachers, most of whom are of the female persuasion, to be the first line of defense against those with I'll intent. Now that same crowd, given the context that our military is 100 percent volunteer and no one is compelled to serve, feels females incapable of deciding if they want to put themselves in harms way.

I find the justifications that men need to decide for women if they are willing to put themselves in these combat conditions.... and yet wish to compel women to be first responders in the choose the career path of education.

We should not be restricting anyone's right to choose what level sacrifice women are willing to make to ensure the freedoms of all. Each day women endure worse treatment and abuse in violent relationships to protect their kids... They deserve the same right to choose to protect their kids freedoms and rights.

At this point, no disasters, maybe, if record levels of sexual misconduct are discounted. But, then where are the victories? Hardly any. In Israel, national existence is precarious, and enemies are close to hand; a vastly different situation than here.

Modern combat is running a laptop controlling a drone. Anyone under 20 can do that.
