I'm glad it wasn't much of a conciliatory speech. He couldn't
have given up enough to please everyone anyway, so he might as well stick to his
principles and move us forward.
Yes, we could have that other fellow as our President now.....He and his
fellow Republicans would be promoting and eagerly engaging in a new war in the
MIddle East with Iran.Outlawing women's reproductive rights.Promoting the NRA while making sure there were several guns in every American
home. Reinventing new ways for wealthy businesses and corporations to take
advantage of non-union work force. Ridding the poor of having any
assistance with food and health care. Exploring new tax loopholes for the
1%. Destroying social security and Medicare for the elderly.Drilling
for oil everywhere, with no consideration of what laws and geological surveys
have been studied.And....And..........the grand glory of this
man's historical inauguration would go down in history, to match his
lifestyle. No U.S. President would every again show the world such a spectacle,
nor would anyone ever again spend as much money on their inauguration. He had
told the world that to be America's President had been his goal his entire
Presidents have in the past were enemies only because of their differing
opinions on the ownership of the Capitalist economy. In fact they were only
arguing about how to squeeze the gold from the golden goose of America. In many cases their efforts their efforts even enhanced the
goose’s ability to produce gold. Their main goal, the gold, never
changed, but they found that the goose returned more gold when fed the food of
the good life, those things now called entitlements. As the number
and power of the gold seekers grew, some thought that the only way to get more
gold was to cheapen the food by taking away the entitlements. Thus the current
philosophy of “It’s my money and I want it now” pervades our
government. Many of the current capitalists are no longer willing to invest in
the future, they want to hold their money in their own hands. President Obama’s second chance is also a second chance for America. We
cannot hope a complete change of heart but if the capitalists return to the
willingness to invest in people, he will have bought a place in the American
Hall of Fame.
"who cares"spoken like a true "patriot"
Under some imaginary 'restrictions' Obama....Gave
Healthcare to Americans.Ended the Iraq war.Got Osama Bin Laden.I, for one, am looking FOWARD to Obama 'liberated'.If you cannot factually give examples of what Obama is going to do (and again,
that would be projection) then the motive to be afraid of a
'liberated' Obama is very simple.Fear mongering.
I see a lot of heat here but not much light. Obama worries me in that he
doesn't seem at all concerned about deficits and why they exist. Total
federal revenue is barely enough to pay entitlements and interest on the debt.
If the Fed ever loses control of interest rates, we're toast. Does Obama
even care? Somebody enlighten me.I would prefer someone in the White
House who at least understands the relationship between the cost of energy and
our standard of living. The bottom line is this: as energy prices go up, our
standard of living will go down - it's inevitable. And when the standard of
living goes down, the people on the bottom hit the shredder first. Government
is currently shielding people on the very bottom, so the shredding is happening
in the middle class. Think of 23 million unemployed Americans. You can blame the
"rich" all you want, but it's really the folks driving up energy
costs that are putting families in the poor house.
Why does the deficit exist?Regan tripled the national debt.W. Bush doubled the debt.Obama? Has done neither.W.
Bush raised the debt ceiling x7 times.Obama? 3 times.Of
course the debt exits'.It doubled and tripled before Obama even
That's who, not why, and not particularly on target. Deficits exist because
Congress has made promises that can't be kept. Deficits exist because
entitlements have gotten out of control. Deficits exist because politicians tend
to try to buy votes with our money. The most important issue is not whose fault
it is, but what can we do to get spending back under control. We need
leadership in the White House that is focused on getting spending under control.
Sadly, it apparently isn't going to come from Obama.
We need leadership that gets spending under control?Ok.Regan tripled the national debt.W. Bush, doubled the debt.Obama? Has not done either. In side-by-side comparisons Obama
IS doing better on the debt than Republican Presidents.FYI?
'Entitlement' programs, are paid into by the American tax payer and,
it's true, make up I believe, around 25-30% of the US Budget. The US military? Makes up over half of the US budget.Shouldn't we fund our national defense? Perhaps. But when you
consider we spend eight times more than any other developed country on
earth..?That Eight China's.
Everyone said this was the most important election in modern history.
To Dimetri Medvedev " Tell Vladimir I will have more flexibility after my
election, this will be my last election and then I will do more", Hold on to
your hats people, he has his "flexibility".
Sorry, Pagan, but you got your numbers mixed up or used old data. The 2013
charts show defense at 24% and entitlements and welfare at 58%. And yes, we do
need leadership that's focused on getting spending under control more than
ever before. There was a chance that Romney might have offered some, but instead
we have a president who doesn't appear to think it's a priority, but
correct me if I'm wrong. It's possible that he simply has no idea how
to even approach the problem.
