I don't know, BYU looked awful, ragged, and couldn't hit from 3 land. Our inside players kind of stunk it up tonight, if not for pretty good guard play, BYU would have gotten beat. Davies gets in earl foul trouble again, Austin can only foul, Harward can't do much of anything; they all played like 10th graders, lots of dumb basketball mistakes. If they play like that at Spokane, they'll get beat 30 points.

Good bounce back game. Let's start rollin' again!

Good bounce back win? We all knew BYU would win this one. The tough games are against Gonzaga and St. Mary's. Other than that, I would refrain from to many pats on the back. Of course I am a Ute fan, but I gotta take a semi shot here. Unlike my Utes, BYU beats the teams they should in both football and basketball. The real legit stuff comes when you beat someone noteworthy though. BYU had a solid defense in football last year, but they beat up on the weak temas and lost to the good ones. The benefit of independence and the WCC is exposure and a good record at first glance, but the BYU fans that pay attention expect more than just to bag on Utah. In football last year, both the red and blue were sub par. Utah got the head to head win AGAIN, while BYU went bowling. Still they got there with four weak teams that boosted their bowl eligibility. The PAC 12 is tougher although the conference has some teams that presented more of a challenge than they should have for Utah. Maybe Utah could have used James Lark as well eh?

I have to agree that BYU didn't look very good in this game. BYU's offense really was awful, but their defense in contesting almost every shot and offensive rebounding were good. To beat Gonzaga BYU will have to put together a complete game and Gonzaga will need to have an off night.

Since #13 Butler just beat #8 Gonzaga at the buzzer last night, I'm thinking Gonzaga will come out with something to prove in their next game where they host BYU!

I agree that my Cougars are not likely to fare well this week. I would love for one of the guards to have an incredible game, but every time they come up against a good foe, the guards seem to cave in to pressure and play like it. Even Carlino had a terrible game and their opponent was nothing like Gonzaga will be.

If Davies doesn't change his ways by next Thursday, the Cougars get beat bad. Haws and Carlino both will need to score 20 plus in order to beat Gonzaga.

Davies and Kaufusi have the highest totals for rebounds per minute this year. I don't really care if Kaufusi can score. As long as he plays good defense, gets good rebounds, clogs up the middle, he will really improve this team. You can work on his offense over time. If you want to do good against good teams, we have to match up physically. You have Kaufusi, use it. This is the only piece to the puzzle that is missing on this team. Insert that piece in and you have a Tournament team that can be more than one and done.

San Diego game was well played in my mind. Fairly good shot selection for the most part. Carlino should have stopped with the 3's sooner. If you have good shot selection, your schemes are working. You can not ask for much more than that. The defense is half the game. That was top notch. We had 10 turnovers(good) and they had 3 offensive rebounds(great). Kudos to the coaching staff. When you win convincingly without the shots going down like you want, the team is on the right track. The shots come if everything else is good.

Glad to see Winder playing more of late. He could be a difference maker in some of these games ahead. If BYU is to go dancing though, they need to beat Gonzaga at home and St. Mary's on the road. I hope Davies can get back on track. Still can't believe Haws is a sophomore.
