He should concede spending limits.

We lose more children through abortions then guns.

Quite a difference between our first President a true Patriot and a man who could have been King but rebuked the idea and did not want to become King and our existing President(the words make me gag) who would love to and do anything he could to become King.

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."
George Washington
First President of the United States

What do background universal back ground checks and limiting the size of magazines have to do with gun control?

I don't think there is any "Make Obama King" caucus in Congress, and find mo's accusation TOTALLY factless and unfounded. Just as a reminder, all the talk of the "unitary executive" (a bit like elected royalty) took place during the GWB administration.

Mentally ill men shoot people, so Obama's response is to restrict the number of guns, gun parts, and ammo.

That makes as much sense as addressing a spending problem by increasing taxes.

Do our leaders have back ground checks?

It's called vetting, and you can be assured that it is more thorough and exhaustive than you could imagine, especially at the presidential level. Make no mistake Mitt looked long at hard at anything he could hang on Obama!!

Mohokat: "from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … George Washington"

Let me know when that actually happens, the whole peace and security issue. Different times; different circumstances; different issues; different capabilities!

Multiplying rights for illegals, gays, and free-loaders.

Decreasing rights through insurance mandates and freedom through gun control for everyday Americans.

Hope and Change has come to America. Take a good whif...

@xscribe I have George Washington's phone number. I will get it to you. You can call him and he can explain it to you. Different, Different, Different. Would that also apply to the rest of the Constitution? Liberals like to make it up as they see fit. We can expect exactly that from King Brack watch closely.

Talking to the dead, these days, Mohokat. Paranoid and talking to the dead: That just might get you an FBI file!

the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference.

I think its EXACTLY the same today. That coward would never have gone where he thought there would be opposition.

Sigfried: And yet, banks are robbed on a daily basis. Could have sworn I have seen armed guards there!

I have a little different point of view on Obama's proposals. Even though I'm a conservative, for the most part I don't have a problem with assault weapons bans and universal background checks...I think the background checks especially shut loopholes that really need to be closed.

My problem with Obama's plan is that, quite literally, it will do next to nothing to stop gun violence in America. It MIGHT give a few extra seconds in one of those super-rare Sandy Hook type shootings. But the overwhelming majority of gun violence is with handguns. What are we going to do about that?

Ann Coulter (not my favorite conservative) had an excellent point recently: take away inner-city gang violence and minority crime, and you'd have an American gun violence rate comparable to Belgium. That's not racism (I can see the knees jerking already) - that's just cold, hard reality. What are we going to do about that? The real answer to getting that much-envied European violence rate is to address problems there...taking away guns from law-abiding citizens will do nothing to reduce our gun violence rate, and arguably increase it.

xscribe- That's too much TV talking brother. Banks are not robbed on a daily basis, look it up, it's relatively rare. And I have NEVER seen an armed guard in my bank. Here in Utah or in Michigan where I used to live. Not saying they don't exsist, just saying that it has very little to do with what we are talking about here.
