The mormom church has to get credit for a willingness to spend money on facilities.

Biblical temples were used for sacrifices to the God of the Bible. If LDS wish to spend millions on their holy edifaces, they have every right.

In Biblical times there was one temple, one High Priest, and all tribes flocked to it, with great hardship and sacrifice in most cases.

Lauding LDS expenses on this expanding building program is another issue. Is it ethical for Christian denominations to build exquisite holy buildings in the midst of poverty? It is understandable that a country that will spend billions on its political elections sees no problem with religions choosing to spend their capital however they choose.

How would Jesus see those choices?

Jesus is the one that told them to build the temple. It is his house so why not make it best for him. Besides the church already does a lot to alleviate poverty. Gives jobs to people working on temple. Building the temple is not causing people to starve. Why don't you ask him how he would feel about building the temple.
