Based on character and class Murphy is Hall of Fame. He had a great peak to his career with two MVP awards but didn't sustain those numbers for a long period of time. In a sense he is a poor man's Mickey Mantle. I think I would vote for him because of those excellent years but his induction is iffy at best. I could see the argument both ways and if I could vote yes I would vote yes because with his character pushing him over.
What a travesty. Dale the Hall isn't worth it. You represented baseball better than any player that EVER played the game. I remember watching you play when I was a kid, I still have all the baseballs you gave my family with the your teammates signatures. In my eyes, you were the best player in the history of the game. You gave the game everything while you played, you never complained about anything. I miss watching you play!! I just hope the veterans correct this mistake and get you in when your chance comes around again. Gary "Bubba" Yingling.
