"The 182-page report concludes that the Obama administration has made immigration its highest law enforcement priority. "
Things you wont see on Fox News.
Would this be from processing the applications for guest workers? Also TSA (customs) and their new machines takes a huge chunk of this also. Obama's deportation numbers are fixed. They are using people held, and turned away at the border after a 48 hour stay. The fact that the press knows this, and ignores it, should say something about the article.
As far as enforcing the laws, he hasn't. He may of spent the money, but it was to fight having to enforce the laws.
In 2007 the government did a study to find out how much it would cost to deport 12 million people. They come up with 93 billion. A one time cost. We could of solved the problem by enforcing the law.
ICE's union and another group are suing him over his amnesty. He is requiring ICE to break the laws, as his amnesty does not make those here legal, they are still here illegally.
"The statistics are actually a little deceptive," Obama said last month during a discussion with Hispanic journalists. There has been "a much greater emphasis on criminals than non-criminals." And "with stronger border enforcement, we've been apprehending folks at the borders and sending them back. That is counted as a deportation even though they may have only been held for a day or 48 hours." speech in 2011 at Denver Co.
Part of that money went for a website "Welcome to the USA" that tells how to register for benefits, and get government aide.
Something stinks.
Billions and Billions-whose running the show, Carl Sagan?
It appears that the top law enforcement priority and the billions in taxpayer's dollars that have been urged on my Republican conservatives, much like the millions spent on drug enforcement are similar to Democratic cries of spend more money on the problem. If murders, rape, sex slave traffic, and the hundreds of millions of dollars in white collar crime are less important then it seems the Republican's continued emphasis on immigration enforcement reveals a questionable ethical or moral direction for this country to take.
RRB writes: "He may of (sic) spent the money, but it was to fight having to enforce the laws."
Where's the proof that the money went to fight the enforcement of the laws?

Just a couple of issues here: A, if you want to blame it on Obama, this study apparently was done in 2007, while Bush was president.
B, and I'll be a republican here, how much did it cost to do this study? A waste of taxpayer dollars?
C, it was a study to see "what it would cost" to deport 12 million people, not to implement it.
D, what was the plan? To just round up everyone of color or who looked "illegal" and see if they could be deported?
Disclaimer: My response is in response to RRB's post. Not even sure of the validity of RRB's claims!
JoeBlow,
Much of that money was diverted, just like much of the Sandy, and oil spill money was.
Doris Meissner is NOT non-partisan.
She ran INS for Bill Clinton.
She regularly testifies before Congress as a pro-amnesty witness.
She's no more non-partisan than Al Gore.
Eighteen billion for immigration enforcement? Over ten trillion dollars fighting a war on poverty. Trillions on education. Over a billion paying for politician vacations.
We've been scammed. No wonder taxes are on the rise.
xscribe,
"_Just a couple of issues here: A, if you want to blame it on Obama, this study apparently was done in 2007, while Bush was president_"
I was pointing out that the 18 billion did very little, if 93 Billion would return most. I know the study was under Bush, it's still relevant to the discussion. It sounds like the money was used for processing his amnesty.
"_ what was the plan? To just round up everyone of color or who looked "illegal" and see if they could be deported?_"
The US has been keeping biometric information since 2004. School records, government services, tax refunds, etc. The government doesn't need to round people up, they know where the majority are. What does a alien look like? Anyone, including white would be the correct answer. The precedent has been set by the Mexican repatriation, and Eisenhower's deportation program. Just enforcing our laws would force the majority to move back home.
"_Not even sure of the validity of RRB's claims!_"
Attack the issue, not the person.
One other comment. Obama by executive order has given amnesty to over a million more people who have immediate relatives here. Illegal aliens are not allowed to adjust to green card status from within the United States. Just like other sponsored immigrants, they have to apply for a visa in their home country, where they are expected to prove identity and credibility, demonstrate that they will not be dependent on social services, get a medical clearance from an approved local doctor, and pass a basic background check.
This order removes all the conditions that legal immigrants go through. It gives amnesty to those affected by the 1996 immigration reform laws. How can he be spending that much, when he is giving so many amnesty, and traffic is down at the border?
America's government has failed to support labor, and enforce the laws of the land.
@RRB-- What was the name of that Eisenhower's deportation program?
RRB said: Attack the issue, not the person.
so again (and to worf) ...Where's the proof that the money went to fight the enforcement of the laws, or was diverted?
@Happy Valley Heretic
RBB asked "Would this be", he was posing a question. Why not answer it if you know where it went? Attacking people that want the laws enforced does no good. The pro-illegal groups should knoow that by now.
I know that The 2012 Budget increased U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Custody Operations funding by $157.7 million to support 33,400 detention beds and remove more than 200,000 criminal aliens in FY 2012.Secure Communities: Received a total of $184 million. The budget supports 21,370 Border Patrol agents and 21,186 CBP officers at our ports of entry.
$242 million is requested to support the continued deployment of proven, effective surveillance technology along the highest trafficked areas of the Southwest Border.
Where did the rest go? That's whats listed in the budget, and it doesn't come close.
