Awesome game! Haws' "poor" night tonight would be anyone else's "great" night. Davies started slowly, but finished strong. Looks like the team found their third shooter - Matt Carlino, who had a great game. And Coach Rose listened to the fans chanting, "Bronson! Bronson! Bronson!" and put him in to get his steal and basket in last 1:39 of the game.
My U-loving days are over. I am now a solid Cougar fan!
Carlino found his groove last night, stepping up when LMU tried to shut down Haws. Matt got a little out of control a few times, but otherwise played a solid game. Haws was great as usual, especially when LMU was forced to stop doubling him. Davies is still a little gimpy and didn't have the hops he usually has, but he still made some nice moves.
Funnest plays were Sharp's in your face dunk and Kafusi's basket. Bronson looks like he's still in football mode with his stutter stepping in the lane, but he's obviously got some basketball skills.
On to San Francisco Saturday, but in the meantime, BYU fans should check out the #2-ranked BYU men's volleyball team playing Hawaii tonight in the Smith Fieldhouse.
Chris B. New year's resolution to quit being a Cougat hater??
Hope it lasts. If it does I will quit being a Utes hater.
Good to have you on board (chuckle)
Congrats to the Cougs for playing a complete game.
I've stated a few times that it's tough for a team to play BYU's uptempo style and have it translate to winning NCAA Tourney games. That said, if Rose and the gang can still teach rebounding and lock down defense, postseason victories are certainly possible. This was only LMU, but I'd be encouraged if I was a Cougar fan.
I still don't see this years team doing too much damage and they may not even make the tourney, but that was a solid around performance last night.
