A narrow technical education will help you get a job but without understanding of how or why great ideas and conflicts created the technology we use. Its hard to think out of the box if you have never learned to think and reason. As a great writer once said; "Major in something beside English so you will have something interesting to write about." The so called General Study courses can enrich and enable a student if they will open their mind to see beyond getting a job.
