A similar thing happened to me and my wife. She lost her ring, but didn't have any idea where she had lost it. A few days later as I was checking sprinklers on our ginormous front lawn I saw a tiny glint in the grass. It appeared to be nothing more than a wadded-up piece of gold-colored foil (my eyes aren't so good any more), but something prompted me to take a closer look. It was my wife's ring!
