Re: revelations weren't given to ancient peoples in now long-dead languages. But,
Modern translations are helpful : “Salvation comes from the LORD(YHWH)”( Jonah 2:9NIV)
Or … “he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love , he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will”(Ephesians 1:4-5 ESV).
One of the good defenses for the Bible and the doctrine of election is no mortal man or women could have invented an idea that so glorifies God and so humbles the human ego.
The reason people today are so opposed to it because they will have God be anything but God. He can become a cosmic psychiatrists, a helpful shepherd, a teacher ,anything at all, only not God, for a simple reason, they want to be God themselves.
